Neighbours are having a party

My neighbours, well about 4 doors down at the end of my road are having a party.

Not a quiet little soirée you understand a big fecking party. They have a DJ with decks in the garden and an MC who really doesn't seem to need the microphone he keeps hollering into.

I am normally in bed by 10.30 but in my room it literally sounds like they are in my front garden, it is so loud and the bass is crazy.

If I was younger I'd probably wangle and invite and be over there in the thick of it but I'm 46, tired and I just want to go to bed.

What sort of time do we reckon this will finish, what is an acceptable time??

Hate to tell you this but when I was younger I've left parties like this, give to work fir the day and then gone back to rejoin as they were still going strong...

House parties were never my thing, i used to go raving.
That was in a venue though not in a terraced house with a DJ set up in the garden!!

That being said my DD is 18 and she just wants them to call it a night so she can go to bed!

Check your council website for their rules on unsociable hours stuff then call the non emergency police number at one minute past that time. Grin

Council website says if its just a party don't bother them with it. If its a regular disturbance get in touch and they may write to them.

Just checked 101 online and that says speak to your local council so no point to any of that then!

You're complaining be about a party on a Saturday night ?? Invest in some ear plugs. I live in Spain every night is a party you learn to live with it. Feel their joy instead of feeling agrivated. It's not like it's an every day occurance.
Get a grip or take a bottle of wine round and join in

Yes i know I don't blame people for wanting to let their hair down and have a good time.

If I lived somewhere where this was the norm then I'm sure I would try get used to it. I don't though I live in a quiet area.

If the party was indoors then it would not be so bad. It is in the garden that faces us, there is a DJ with decks and an MC so not a normal house party, it sounds like a festival and is excessive.

Oh gosh, it's fucking annoying OP, but after the year we've had, I think I'd cut them a bit of slack tbh. People haven't had many chances to have fun recently. I totally feel your pain though.

I did call the police about a party a few years ago, I think it was about 2am. Very noisy but I would have tolerated that had they not started pissing in our front garden. I drew the line at that. The police came out quite quickly and closed it down, in a fairly good humoured way.

I'm not going to call the police or report it...unless they start pissing in my garden!!

I'm just a creature of habit I guess, in bed by 10.30 up at 5.30 and need my sleep.

It's not going to kill me, its just so bloody loud. I should add I have, according to DH who is not currently here exceptional hearing so that doesn't help!

Strangely enough I made my first ever noise complaint tonight.

The flat opposite were having a party so loud the bass made our (newish, so not rickety) windows rattle.

They're in an upstairs flat and I know there is a much older gentleman downstairs from them (in his 80s at least) and a young family to one side (two children under 3). So I made the complaint on our local council website (not council housing) at 11:25 and the 'noise police' (not their real name) called me back at 11:45 and visited the house by 12:15.

It's silent out there now.

It was annoying for us, but I can sleep through warfare. But I mainly did it in solidarity for their direct neighbours.

Oh and I'm not a complainer, very much live and let live, I just felt awful for the guy downstairs from them. It was so loud we couldn't hear our TV, I dread to think how it was for him.

I have no desire to go and join them, I am in my pyjamas!!

The DJ is now fading out the lyrics and they are all singing along. The dogs are now going nuts at all the noise!

It sounds like a great club night, not a mid terrace night though!

@MyNameForToday1980 if I had any elderly neighbours between us and them that would be a consideration for sure.

I did look at the council website earlier out of curiosity. It says there is no out of hours provision for noise reporting, notoriously shit council.

Solidarity OP, same here with the near neighbours who have a marquee in their garden and are still going! Party started this afternoon. I can sleep through a lot but it is annoying. Not an occasional thing with them either.
