MyWaitrose card holders : Do you still get vouchers?

Unfashionable · 04/08/2021 21:00

I have been a regular Waitrose shopper for many years. Pre-pandemic, they regularly sent me vouchers through the post, eg ‘Spend £40 save £5’. They stopped sending them during lockdown for obvious reasons, but I haven’t had any vouchers from them since. Sainsbury’s & Tesco have now started sending out vouchers again, but Waitrose haven’t.

Has anyone had vouchers from Waitrose this year?

I had (about a month ago) a set of £14 off £100+ online shops. I don’t use Waitrose for my main shop generally just odds and ends.

TamzinGrey · 04/08/2021 22:51

Glad that's it's not just me then. After realising that I'd not received vouchers for months, in spite of being a regular weekly shopper, I emailed Waitrose and received this reply -

"Thank you for your response.

With your details are correct and to make sure that your receiving vouchers please could you follow these steps to review your different Marketing preferences

  1. Go to www.waitrose.comm_
  2. In the top right-hand corner, click on 'Sign in/ Register'
  3. Enter your email address, click "Continue"
  4. Enter your password, click "Sign in"
  5. Next click on 'MY ACCOUNT' in the top right corner
  6. Within the My details section, click 'Marketing preferences'
  7. Click on ' Marketing preferences'
  8. Click on ' Update preferences'
  9. This will then allow you to choose who you want to receive marketing from
10. Once completed, click 'save changes'

I hope that these steps are clear enough for you but if I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me on 0800 188 8811_.

Please note it will take a little time for any changes you make to take full effect.

That was about 6 weeks ago. Did everything that they said and I'm still not getting vouchers 😢

ZednotZee · 04/08/2021 22:54

Yes, £26 off a £170 shop.

This was late June, I think.

I have received vouchers in the last 2 months.

One booklet a month. Each contained 6 vouchers for £14 off a £70 shop.

Such a treat.

AnnaSW1 · 04/08/2021 23:02

No! And I hadn't realised until now

Egghead68 · 04/08/2021 23:04

Yes £20 off £130 shop

Bipbopboo66 · 04/08/2021 23:07

Not had vouchers in months.
I doubt the free coffee will be back anytime soon.
Free paper... Its something.
But my Clubcard gives me better.

EastWestWhosBest · 04/08/2021 23:07

Nope. But then I never did. Dh got them all in spite of me being the one that did all the shopping.

TheyCallMeJustice · 04/08/2021 23:13

Yes, I get them almost every month through the post. This month it is £14 off a £100 spend.

Interesting how Waitrose are clearly tailoring the vouchers to the customer.

Snugglybuggly · 04/08/2021 23:49

@AtomicBronde

Yes I’ve had vouchers, probably about a couple of months ago now.
Same here
LizziesTwin · 05/08/2021 06:19

I might stop shopping at Waitrose for a bit & see if I get better vouchers.

My nectar card didn’t unlock the self scan machine at Sainsbury’s last time I went & the staff couldn’t help me, apparently I need to ring Nectar. That fills me with dread.

BarbaraofSeville · 05/08/2021 06:57

Come to think of it, no I haven't had any, probably since pre pandemic.

But admittedly, I don't shop there much, due to convenience, but also price. My nearest shop is at the other side of my city and pretty much every other supermarket is closer.

So now I only ever go every couple of months to stock up on own brand tonic in cans because it's the one I like best for several reasons.

If they did send me a voucher, I'd use it to buy a load of things on special offer to meet the minimum spend, so I'm probably not the type of customer they want to attract anyway as I'm never going to routinely do a full price family shop there.

Ringing nectar isn't too painful, I've had to do it after a problem and it was fine, UK call centre, they can find you on the system without you having to remember obscure security details, knowledge operators who can actually do things rather than 'computer says no' or rigid scripts that don't cover your issue.
sherl0ck · 05/08/2021 07:13

I used to do the weekly shop at Waitrose but I haven’t received any vouchers since before COVID. As the price of my weekly shop was going up and up I have started shopping elsewhere (about 3 months ago). I haven’t received any vouchers to tempt me back and I am still being sent and completing the regular surveys.

blue1000 · 05/08/2021 07:19

I got a spend £90 get £9 off voucher a couple of months ago. Didn't use it.

I tend to only use Waitrose for small top up shops or to buy their king prawn pizza which DSS loves.

Like the free paper perk though.

mulberrybag · 05/08/2021 07:27

The checkout lady we last saw told us that the more you use your MyWaitrose card the less you receive the vouchers. Seems a very unrewarding reward card to me so have stopped using it to see if that prompts any vouchers being issued

BarbaraofSeville · 05/08/2021 07:33

If you shop there anyway without being given vouchers, they don't need to send you vouchers to tempt you to shop there, makes perfect sense.

So seeing as you're not losing any points by not using your card like you would at Tesco or Sainsburys, it might work.

But if you get the free newspaper or monthly magazine, you'd lose that, but now they don't do the free coffee and I don't think there are discounts for MyWaitrose card holders any more, there's nothing else to lose is there?

ExtremelyDisorganised · 05/08/2021 07:36

Yes, but they are the £9 off £90 type and I don't use them as I only tend to do top up shops there now. I switched to click and collect during the pandemic and Sainsburys was way better for this than Waitrose so Waitrose lost me for main shops and probably want me back.

Roselilly36 · 05/08/2021 07:37

Not had any vouchers for ages, Op. I used to get them regularly. Shocked to read the reports this morning that Waitrose/JL have been found not to be paying the correct NMW either, disgusted with that, I would have expected better from this retailer.

LizziesTwin · 05/08/2021 09:07

@BarbaraofSeville Thanks for that, I’ll try later.

spinningspaniels · 05/08/2021 09:10

Yes we've had quite a few in the last 6 months - the 1st was £20 off a £120 shop, then the next lot were £17 off and then £15 off. Saved us a fortune, but we'd only just jumped ship from Ocado at that point ........ now we have Waitrose deliveries weekly, I've not had anything Hmm

DoubleTweenQueen · 05/08/2021 09:11

I spend a fortune in Waitrose - bit miffed I'm not getting any of these vouchers!

CrazylazyJane · 05/08/2021 11:08

That would seem to make sense. Since the pandemic, I have downloaded the scanner thing on my phone to avoid having to touch too many things in the supermarket. It is very good and saves me a lot of time, so I've carried on using it but it does mean that I use my reward card, which is linked to the scanner app every time I shop at Waitrose.

Again will have to strategise my shop to get the vouchers flowing in.

Blueberrycreampie · 10/08/2021 16:26

Re my previous post on receiving 3 lots of £10.00 vouchers. When I created my order I put in the voucher code successfully. Now order has been delivered - no £10.00 off! Emailed cs and received back saying for new online customers only! Why send me the flipping things as the know I'm not a new customer. 😠 😤 🤨

Blossomtoes · 10/08/2021 16:29

@pinkgin85

Waitrose card is virtually useless, I've stopped scanning it at checkout now
Same here. I have no idea why it exists now the free coffee has stopped.
