How much time do you spend out of the house?

Just wondering about this. I know it varies but if you’re on holiday but not away do you go out much?

I’m feeling a bit fed up lately. Am out so much it’s actually starting to do my head in. And its expensive!

Normally morning till lunch or lunch until dinner. On a typical day. Sometimes all day.

It's only expensive if you go to places where you have to pay or buy food out.

Can you stay at home more? Why can't you?

Babymeanswashing · 03/08/2021 15:00

Yeah but if you don’t spend money what do you do? Honestly meaning that genuinely. But even petrol and parking isn’t free.

Depends what I'm in the mood for.

I've been known to be off work and stay in for days at a time.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 03/08/2021 15:01

Most of the day. I was off work yesterday, went out for breakfast then to the cinema then for coffee. I don't like sitting around at home and I am an extrovert so prefer being with other people.

Pegasusmail · 03/08/2021 15:03

I'm on summer holiday (teacher)
I went for a coffee and little shopping so an hour and a half today.

Prior to covid I loved being out and about and hardly was at home. I've grown to be happy in my own company and dc are older and less needy. So I tend to be home a lot.

Today on a huge cleaning mission. That's more satisfying than being out all day. We've a decent garden so dc do not need loads of trips to parks etc.

Pegasusmail · 03/08/2021 15:04

If I don't want to spend money but want to go out we go to the library. I look at recipe books etc. Internet.

Or we walk or go fishing Grin or visit people.

hellcatspangle · 03/08/2021 15:07

I meet friends for walks most days! Doesn't cost anything and we get a good chat and some exercise.

Lazypuppy · 03/08/2021 15:09

Home majority of most days. Weekends i am normally out either morning or afternoon for a few hours depending on the activity. Sometimes we are home all weekend

Apeirogon · 03/08/2021 15:11

I'm currently on holiday from work but not away. I have three DC who are obviously on holiday too. This week (as an example) we will have two family days out. The other days are more chilled, but we do also have a couple of play dates planned (either hosting or my child going to a friend) to keep the kids busy. That feels like a good balance to me. I agree the days out get expensive, but usually we'd go abroad so we can justify some expense. At least the play dates (or having an friend over for coffee if you don't have DC) are free!

Babymeanswashing · 03/08/2021 15:14

Problem is once you’ve had one walk in the morning do you do another in the afternoon?

I mean some days I do get that variety of meeting friends / walk / whatever but other days I don’t and then it’s walks or nothing and can’t do that all day (or do people?)

Why do you need to go out both morning and afternoon?

Babymeanswashing · 03/08/2021 15:20

I don’t need to really, but I feel a bit lazy if I’m in the house all the time.

No I don't do two walks a day, but I'm generally out for a couple of hours. By the time I've got home, had lunch, had a shower, done some household chores etc, it's time to start preparing dinner.

Other days I have errands to do (walked to the post office today) and some days I'll visit friends/family.

MrsDThomas · 03/08/2021 15:25

As much as possible. I go up Snowdon and any other mountain. Walk, run, potter, tidy, bake.
A mixture of stuff.

I can walk for miles, winter is harsh and long, so im out all i can.

Pegasusmail · 03/08/2021 15:29

You could walk morning and evening if you wanted to. I don't feel lazy if I am at home. There's so much to do. You could do the Organised mum method (as an example) or a job per day. Or read. Self care (bath and hair mask). Gardening if you have a garden.

I hardly ever go out. Don't see the need. It's expensive

Babymeanswashing · 03/08/2021 15:35

I have an 8 month old so won’t be learning a language any time soon Grin

Doesn't anyone on this thread work...how is everyone staying in the house so much?

I'm out 7-7 on office days and when it's my turn to do school drop off.

Apeirogon · 03/08/2021 15:37

The OP is asking about when you're on holiday but not away.

MrsDThomas · 03/08/2021 15:37

A - i work part time
B - no school to tend to
C - i do what i want!

The op asked if you were on holiday - staycationing, but at home. Not normal work/school/non holiday time.

Op. As much time as I can stay at home as possible!

LBOCS2 · 03/08/2021 15:39

OP did say 'if you're on holiday but not away' to be fair... 😁

It varies. I didn't leave the house on Sunday or today (might do some gardening in a bit) but was out most of the day yesterday. Tomorrow we'll be out all day. I don't leave the house without purpose, so if I've got things to do (DIY, crafts, gardening, books to read, things to watch) then I'll do those instead.

When I'm working, as I WFH I only leave the house to do site visits or the school run mostly. Or if I've got plans in the evening.

Dogmum40 · 03/08/2021 15:43

My husband and I run our businesses from home and have done for a few years now so other than to walk the dog in the mornings ( an hour ish) and evenings (30 mins) we very rarely leave the house, I do occasionally meet up with friends and family but the majority of the time I’m home and I actually like it! I used to be so busy running around meeting people and arranging stuff that now I’m more than happy with Netflix and wine! (I’m clearly old and boring nowadays)!!!! We don’t have kids and we are very fortunate to have a house with land (too much if you ask me) so there’s always something that needs doing if I get bored of Netflix 🤣

MrsDThomas · 03/08/2021 15:44

To me, on holiday but at home is a day iff/non working day/weekend.
