Which is the best flower delivery company you have used recently?

Just that really, would like to send my mum some flowers for the first time and wondering what's best.
She lives 100 miles away, could I call a florist near her to deliver? Or would a national one be better?

Freddies Flowers - I send a single box (not signing up for a membership!) and they are always gorgeous and last ages.

Tara336 · 03/08/2021 18:56

Avoid Bloom and Wild, I had them sent to me twice both times scraggy, wilting and broken flowers arrived in a squashed box. Tried to discuss the matter with them and they insisted the flowers would perk up, nothing was going to perk these flowers perk up they were beyond saving

Not a fan of bloom and wild. Sent 2 sets via serenata recently. Got good feedback

I've recently broken my ankle and had flowers from all of them, and haute florist by far and away the best.

M&S

Florist trained here!

I always use a local florist, phone in advance to check delivery days and what's coming in and order for that day or the day after. IME people are a bit intimidated in a florist, bit like a hairdressers, but a good one will happily answer questions and make a bespoke arrangement.

A friend bought me a B&W 3 month sub. I was frankly amazed at how much they went from looking half dead to glorious. Only casualty was a stem of wax flower that was beyond all help. I would never risk sending out flowers like that, which just goes to show how wrong you can be, but they do lack the "wow" factor on delivery.

SchrodingersMat · 03/08/2021 20:11

I like Petalon best, or the real flower company if you have the budget. Bloom and Wild have always been good in my experience but my first two suggestions have nicer arrangements in my opinion.

LittleCatDog · 03/08/2021 20:18

Waitrose do great flowers and they always last ages!

MadisonAvenue · 03/08/2021 20:21

I’ve bought from Bloom and Wild a few times and the recipients have always been very pleased with them.

I’ve had a subscription with Freddie’s Flowers (you can also buy and send a one off bunch) and ended up cancelling it, the flowers were frequently damaged despite the delivery boxes being undamaged and the flowers rarely lasted a week.

Beebumble2 · 03/08/2021 20:22

I’d second Waitrose, never been disappointed. I’ve been sent B&W before, they use a lot of shrubbery stems which have a musty smell. Nit a fan.

DGFB · 03/08/2021 20:32

Bloom and Wild are rubbish in my experience.
I always use M&S with no complaints

groundcontroltomontydon · 03/08/2021 20:33

Clare florist is my go-to for flowers, their offers are good too

Definitely a local florist, call them and discuss what you want and unless there is a specific flower you want ask them to recommend what is good in season. Then you just pay the delivery charge.

I've always had best results using someone local with a local reputation to maintain.

Defiantly41 · 03/08/2021 22:30

Waitrose flowers have always been reliable, also Cornish Blooms cornishblooms.co.uk, a lovely small company

HasaDigaEebowai · 03/08/2021 22:34

Cut flowers are appalling for the environment since they typically get flown in. But if you’re going to buy them then look at Shida. They do preserved flowers and the bouquets last up to a year. They’re very fashionable too.

Starjammer · 03/08/2021 22:40

I always use B&W, for myself and others, and never had a bad bouquet. If you're not used to them then you will probably will get a shock when they arrive and think they're beyond help, but they really do perk up and they last ages!

I used prestige flowers. Their flowers are always so gorgeous and last ages.

Hopeisallineed · 18/10/2021 07:43

My friend occasionally sends me Bloom and Wild. They have never been great but don’t have the heart to tell her. I think they are extremely hit and miss.

Flyingsouthagain · 18/10/2021 07:58

Another one severely disappointed by Bloom & Wild. Tatty, half dead flowers and missed deliver dates. Gave up after the second attempt.

I use www.scentednarcissi.co.uk

leeloo1 · 18/10/2021 08:00

I've been sent Bloom and wild and moonpig flowers and both were really disappointing, (in the end I got a hamper from moon pig as an apology, after they sent me 2 dead bunches with all the petals falling off the roses when I tried to remove the guard petals as instructed, so at least the kids got to enjoy the biscuits) although the last delivery of 'apology' flowers from B&W were better, but the roses still only lasted a few days.

M&S or Waitrose get my vote.

I've received flowers through Seranata a couple of times and thought they were lovely and lasted well.
