I miss:-

  • Being in a crowd of people without worrying if they are infected
  • Shopping for fun and trying on clothes and using make-up testers
  • Just browsing in shops without feeling uncomfortable
  • Planning and looking forward to a holiday
  • Just feeling normal!

I miss not having to plan and pre book things

Abetes · 25/07/2021 12:13

I miss travelling.

LawnFever · 25/07/2021 12:14

Festivals and live music in general

RhubarbTea · 25/07/2021 12:14

Summer camping festival thingies I used to go to.
Choir.
A world where people weren't so divided into different camps that each hated each other with a passion. Brexit did that a bit I know but this is far, far worse.
Feeling hopeful about the future.

Violetparis · 25/07/2021 12:14

Working in an office with lovely colleagues, one who won't be returning due to long covid Sad
Being able to try on clothes in shops.

HerrenaHarridan · 25/07/2021 12:14

Kink parties and fet clubs

Mosh pits

Travel

It’s going to be a loooooong time before I consider those activities to fall in a sensible risk benefit analysis again.

Wjevtvha · 25/07/2021 12:15

Spontaneity of doing things without booking, browsing in shops for fun and being able to look forward to things without the anxiety of it not happening

StartingGrid · 25/07/2021 12:17

Fitting into most of my clothes!

SupermanWithTheGreyHair · 25/07/2021 12:17

Concerts. 😔

Mumsnet active not being full of coronavirus topic. Strangely addictive though so I wont hide the board. 😅

Goodtohear · 25/07/2021 12:17

Health care - my GP has been excellent however referring on is a minefield. I had my operation postponed due to covid in March 2020 and I'm still waiting (2years since it was scheduled).

SupermanWithTheGreyHair · 25/07/2021 12:18

Fitting into most of my clothes

🤣

Attictroll · 25/07/2021 12:18

Travel ...not booking things in advance. No masks - hate them

FizzyPink · 25/07/2021 12:19

Travel. Planning and going on holidays or short trips was a big part of my life. For me, the researching areas/restaurants/things to do was almost as exciting as the holiday itself. I’m very type A and have spreadsheets full of plans and ideas for trips.
We’ve had 6 holidays cancelled in the last year and I know everyone will say they’re hardly essential but they were genuinely the part of my life I looked forward to the most.
It’s killing me not being able to plan ahead or get excited about anything.

DancesWithTortoises · 25/07/2021 12:20

Theatre.

CrouchEndTiger12 · 25/07/2021 12:20

Spontaneity

With everything. The ability to make choices to do what ever I wanted. Take the train to Paris for brunch if you wanted.

All that freedom I squandered.

Dreamingofbeergardens · 25/07/2021 12:21

Pre booking things. My friend tried to book restaurants for her birthday two months in advance and there was hardly anywhere available.

CrouchEndTiger12 · 25/07/2021 12:21

@DancesWithTortoises

Theatre.
I went last week. Normal capacity has resumed.
FizzyPink · 25/07/2021 12:22

I agree with the hatred as well. My Instagram feed is full of people telling those who have had the jab that they’re sheep and asking whether they’re suffering from a vaccine induced illness yet. These are all people I previously thought were pretty sensible.
It’s funny how people who are pro vaccine don’t seem nearly as interested in telling others what to do.

elp30 · 25/07/2021 12:23

Months before Covid struck, the business my husband and I built finally hit it's stride and three long years of financial sacrifice was finally over. The business is event photography and we built it up to have a consistent stream of bookings.

February 2020, we went from 100+ bookings for the year to ZERO by March 2020.

We had no choice but to eat into every penny of savings, sell most of our equipment and various other things to keep afloat and let the business go. We had to figure out how to do other jobs we are not really capable of doing. It's a massive struggle every day, financially.

I miss our business.

sherrystrull · 25/07/2021 12:23

My children being able to do all of their activities and experiencing normal school.

Dollpiglet · 25/07/2021 12:27

Seeing people other than my DH. We both WFH now and I don't see any other adults apart from people passing me on the path on the school run. Video calls are for functional discussion only. I miss gossip with colleagues.

robotcollision · 25/07/2021 12:29

Casual interaction with strangers. An older lady dropped something on the pavement during lockdown and I had to resist the urge to pick it up and hand it to her. It made me sad that the way we normally help each other or share with strangers without thinking has been put on hold and it might not return.

LindaEllen · 25/07/2021 12:31

Not having to worry whether every meal out will result in me being unable to leave my home for a fortnight a few days later.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 25/07/2021 12:31

Foreign travel, followed by theatre and shopping

AgnesNaismith · 25/07/2021 12:31

Holidays, holidays, holidays.
