I miss:-

  • Being in a crowd of people without worrying if they are infected
  • Shopping for fun and trying on clothes and using make-up testers
  • Just browsing in shops without feeling uncomfortable
  • Planning and looking forward to a holiday
  • Just feeling normal!

I miss not having to hear people say 'we're in the middle of a pandemic....'

beentoldcomputersaysno · 25/07/2021 23:39

Spontaneity.

NopeNotGonna · 25/07/2021 23:40

Being able to book an appointment with the doctor and going to said appointment without having to explain to the receptionist that my anxiety is crippling me and I need to see a doctor before I have another breakdown, fpr her to tell me the doctor will just call me back.

I think spontaneity is here. I spontaneously phoned my sister last week and said I was going to be in London, she cleared her diary, we met and fannied about all day and got a decent table for lunch.

I've just booked gig tickets.

I went with another sister for lunch and shopping last week. It felt relaxed and normal.

I went to Tatton Park flower show with friends on Friday, we had a Fortnum and Mason picnic and a very relaxed day.

You have roll with the punches.

Travel.
Feeling free and easy in a group of people rather than uptight and worried.
No constant yack yack yack about the vaccines. Just get one.
Being able to go to shops etc without worrying about masks and standing on marked circles to queue.
Not feeling a general malaise and disbelief that this thing happened.

Silkiecats · 26/07/2021 02:25

Holidays and DH being able to see his family who are abroad.

Kids having school as normal and gcses not being in chaos.

My ASD DS speaking Sad

Being able to just turn up at swimming pools and go swimming.
Not register as a member and book yourself in in advance

converseandjeans · 26/07/2021 04:36

Travel
Meeting friends who don't live locally
Having a happy daughter
Spontaneous outings

SiobhanSharpe · 26/07/2021 07:27

France.
Just being able to shove a case into the car and be there in a couple of hours for short breaks, to recharge with great beaches, food, scenery and a more relaxed lifestyle.
Or Spain would do too but that takes 24 hours taking the car on the (very nice) ferry.

InsanityOf2020 · 26/07/2021 08:16

Apart from working from home more my life hasnt changed... so i think i need to get a life really

BogRollBOGOF · 26/07/2021 09:59

Faces and clear speech.
Spontenaity.
Making plans and looking forwards to them.
Not second guessing how people feel about things and wondering if they'll shun this granny-murdering mask-exempt pariah. Not having to bite my toungue constantly in order to emerge from this with relstionships in tact.
Just being able to confidently do stuff without worrying about masks/ test and trace/ isolations, which way to walk round.
Knowing that if family have a critical problem, we could hop on a plane and be there within hours.
Having a relationship with the DCs school and volunteering with them.

Just life being pleasant and straightforwards without the uncertainty and hoop-jumping over everything.

I miss travel

Work in a school and the end of term was very different and not in a nice way

Crowds at the olympics definitely make it

Don't realise how spontaneous my life was. Having to book things beforehand

SunSeaSurfGin · 26/07/2021 11:17

Also agree with the shopping and trying clothes and shoes on comments

Global cruise holidays and in particular delayed Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady inaugural cruise with Richard!

I miss not being blackmailed into having a substance injected into me that I don't want

You have a choice you can exercise but it's only realistic that people's lives vaccinated or unvaccinated will vary.
LadyDanburysHat · 30/07/2021 11:56

Definitely spontaneity. Other than that chats with my lovely colleagues and popping into town for an unhealthy lunch instead of the home packed lunch I had.

Travel. Spontaneous travel. Looking at the weather forecast for the UK, thinking 'this is crap' and just booking somewhere overseas to depart in a couple of days time. Brexit hasn't helped this either.

Festivals mainly and the theatre
