I'd like to see a faithful rendering of The Little Princess and series based on the life of Maya Angelou and the life and times of Eleanor of Aquitaine.

I'd like to see the Miss Silver books by Patricia Wentworth made into a lovely period series for the 8pm Sunday night slot.

Also Antonia Hodgson's Thomas Hawkins books would be great if done well.

thenightsky · 21/07/2021 22:54

@PaperMonster

I’d just like Colin’s Sandwich to be recommissioned. It was awesome.
OMG, I'd forgotten that amazing series. Yes, this. Bring it back.
CeaselessWatcher · 21/07/2021 22:54

I think it might be time for a new Peter Wimsey series as well.

Rivers of London

Yes please (I always see Peter as the actor who played Grey Worm in Game of Thrones and Nightingale as a younger Al Pacino)

ChequerBoard · 21/07/2021 22:59

CSI - Convenient Shag Island

Single folk are gathered together in a luxury villa to have a great time on holiday. They form 'relationships' based on short term sexual attraction without the need to pretend they are in 'lurve' or that they have any expectation of becoming a long lasting couple....

BustopherPonsonbyJones · 21/07/2021 23:05

Ooh, great ideas! Yes to Shardlake, Rivers of London and The Dark is Rising (done properly).

I’d add anything by Diana Wynne Jones (I loved Archer’s Goon but would to see a Chrestomanci story) and anything by Robin Hobbs. I liked the Maureen Lipman version of A Little Princess so I’ll stick with that one.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 21/07/2021 23:05

Chalet School.

Call the Midwife set earlier in the Nuns history... young Sister MJ and Sister Evangelina.

bluedomino · 21/07/2021 23:23

I came on here to say "Miss Silver" but 22:52TheYearOfSmallThings got there first! They could go to town on the costumes. Same kind of thing with "A man of some repute" Elizabeth Edmunson. I'd like "The Unicorn Crisis" by Jon Rosenburg. Magical and crime! Anything by Terry Pratchett. Michael Bonds "Monsieur Pamplemoose" French food critic and his blood hound. "The Paper Magician" by Charlie N Holmberg. All the Mary Wesley novels too please.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 21/07/2021 23:39

Oh yes, The Dark is Rising - not that terrible hash of it they made the movie out of.

I'd happily watch the Rivers of London.

I'd also love to see the Chronicles of St Mary's made into a film/series but would worry too much that it wouldn't be right and would spoil things!

2021hwg · 21/07/2021 23:43

A follow up to "darling buds of may". Set in early 80s, elderly ma and pop and all The grandkids

rooarsome · 21/07/2021 23:51

@Hawdyerwheesht

Georgette Heyer novels Smile
Absolutely! I'm so sad that the proposed adaptation of The Grand Sophy (with Stephen Fry) didn't happen
littledrummergirl · 22/07/2021 00:45

A series for children about important women through history.

Elisabeth Kyle wrote a series called girl with a ...
Pen
Lantern,
Song etc
These could work

BrozTito · 22/07/2021 09:04

A series about young poirot in the belgian police 1880s, and possibly a spinoff which explains how the hell Hastings made the rank of captain.

BrozTito · 22/07/2021 09:04

Fall of eagles redone as well.

Duckypoohs · 22/07/2021 09:08

Mike careys felix castor books done as a series. Must search up rivers of London, looks up my street.

KillingMeDeftly · 22/07/2021 09:53

Yes @BrozTito. I tried watching the original on YouTube but it's quite dated and stagey. Patrick Stewart as Lenin was inspired casting though!

GetTaeFuck · 22/07/2021 10:04

The Dark Tower. The film was shite.

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 22/07/2021 10:13

Some of the spoof TV shows in 30 Rock sounded like telly genius to me.

MILF Island
Are You Stronger Than a Dog?
Black Frasier
Real Transvestite Hoarders of Orange State Penitentiary
America's Next Top Pirate

KillingMeDeftly · 22/07/2021 10:28

And I'd love to see a full-length version of "The Rurjur"!

peaceanddove · 22/07/2021 11:31

Definitely The Dark Is Rising (just the second book), filmed in 6 one hour long episodes - and with that subtle sense of creepiness and unease juxtaposed against all the excitement of Christmas. It could become a real Christmas classic.

All the Jack Cafferey books by Mo Hayder - with Aiden Turner playing Jack [swoons]

FluffytheGoldfish · 22/07/2021 11:33

The first season of The Wheel of Time will be on Prime later this year, they have just started filming the second season.

inthekitchensink · 22/07/2021 11:34

Riders
Polo

Lowering the tone sorry but I would be so happy.

Monestera · 22/07/2021 12:48

I didn’t know about this!

A series based on the Mathew Shardlake novels by C J Sanson

SnakeyTakey · 22/07/2021 12:54

Maybe the international success of Bridgerton will result in an interest in other Regnecy set things eg. Georgette Heyer. Producers love a winning formula.
