Would it be weird to put cash in teachers card?

Got gift cards but can't find them Sad

Little gift bag with mini box of chocs, card from DS and cash with a note saying please treat yourself, you deserve it.

Would that be OK?

Personally I think it's fine

MissMissTorrance · 21/07/2021 07:55

Weird and if I was the teacher I'd feel very uncomfortable.
It's also a bit condescending somehow.

Mrsjayy · 21/07/2021 07:55

Personally I wouldn't bother the card and sweets are fine,

12Step12 · 21/07/2021 07:56

I think card and chocs would be enough

toolazytothinkofausername · 21/07/2021 07:57

At my children's primary school giving cash to teachers is not allowed. Gift cards are allowed.

FuckingHateRats · 21/07/2021 07:57

Stick with card and sweets. Even better if the kids write the card. As a teacher I'd be quite uncomfortable with receiving cash.

Bryonyshcmyony · 21/07/2021 07:57

Please don't. Cards and chocs are fine.

Heyha · 21/07/2021 07:58

Please don't worry about it, the card will be most appreciated (as will the chocs of course but mainly the card!). Cash would be a bit awkward tbh, I've had vouchers before and even that feels a bit odd- secondary though so it's not class collection presents, that might make a difference.

Mrsjayy · 21/07/2021 07:59

I see it isn't allowed in a pp school, money seems inappropriate to me, like a "tip" or something.

RytonLane · 21/07/2021 07:59

Lovely thought, especially as you have a small gift too.

I feel more guilty about the amount of 'stuff' we are given that we don't use.
I hate waste and hate wasting others money. There are only so many teacher mugs and key rings I can get through.

Pot plants are very 'in' at the minute, that would be my choice.

Crowsandshivers · 21/07/2021 08:01

I'm a teacher and would feel really uncomfortable. Could you purchase am e-voucher online and print it off?

Bryonyshcmyony · 21/07/2021 08:02

Can you afford to buy yet another gift voucher? Keep the money to spend on your kids in the holidays and give the teacher a card and chocs.

Crowsandshivers · 21/07/2021 08:04

P.s. I agree- no need for a voucher. A card is more than enough.

MeltinHere · 21/07/2021 08:06

It's his last day this morning an dhis dad is collecting him so I have 25 mins to get a replacement so a pot plant is out of the equation.
I don't drive either so can't pop in anywhere.

I'd bought them Starbucks gift cards and I hate coffee 😂

Well use them to buy your dc a milkshake or something

MrsMoastyToasty · 21/07/2021 08:12

No I wouldn't. (But then I have never given any teacher a gift).

Wormholes · 21/07/2021 08:16

Please don't.

It puts the teacher in a very awkward position.

Donate to school charity if you've got spare cash.

Would you tip a doctor, or a solicitor?

Teachers are professionals, not service providers.

regularbutnamechangedd · 21/07/2021 08:27

I have kept DS off for his last week of term as he's been struggling in the heat (he is autistic) so I sent his teacher an email thanking her and telling her the impact that her efforts had had on him and our family, and I made a monetary donation to the local food bank in his name. Maybe you could do something like that?

Nohomemadecandles · 21/07/2021 08:29

It doesn't feel right, no.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 21/07/2021 08:32

No, that's just feels wrong and weird, if I was a teacher that would make me feel very uncomfortable

What you have is absolutley fine

SCMocha · 21/07/2021 08:34

Could you buy the gift card online as an e-gift card? Starbucks etc do that. Only if you could use the original gift card for another gift or for yourself (doesn't have to be coffee!). You can print off something that shows the gift card number etc for them or have it emailed to them. I've had cards like that from various shops as presents - amazon, M&S, starbucks, and others.

AnnPerkins · 21/07/2021 08:39

Yes. Weird and unnecessary. Just send card and chocs.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 21/07/2021 08:56

Send an Amazon e-gift voucher to their email rather than cash.

mdh2020 · 21/07/2021 08:56

Get your child to make a card- that’s all teachers want. If you have bought a card get your child to write something in it.
My son goes home with a car boot full of booze, toiletries and chocolates but that’s what he most appreciates. (Yesterday he couldn’t go home because someone stole the catalytic converter off his car).

That's really nice. I'm a teacher and would very much appreciate that.
