Family of Toads in my drain

Discovered Daddy Toad, Mummy Toad and Baby Toads ( spawn) in my drain in the back garden this evening. What the hell am I going to do with them? Presume I'll need to get rid otherwise we'll be overrun with toads. DC are so excited. They looked so scared when I took the drain cover off, looking up at me with big eyes......

Interesting fact about toads is they can live around 40 years so they may be with you for some time.

I was worried about the spawn. Glad its insulation.

If they can get in and out, I'd leave them be. You wont have a slug problem this year!

The cavity wall insulation reminds me of the thread where a lady spent all night looking after a "baby hedgehog" 🤣

I’m jealous! If they’re happy in the drain just leave them be.

Oh this happened to me about 10 years ago! I'm afraid it didn't really occur to me to do anything Blush it was my kitchen drain and whenever the washing machine or dishwasher would empty of hot water, the toad would jump out. He didn't mind cold. I showed DS1 and he was terrified :o the toad didn't stay long, I assumed he found the constant showers uncomfortable. Never noticed any smell etc so I don't think it died down there but feel a bit bad now!
I am jealous.. I have plenty of frogs though in my mini wildlife water bucket area. I used old baby baths and added some water mint and rocks etc.
You should move the spawn to a tub and make sure it's always got water.

Here's a nice idea for your drains to attract more wildlife :-)
I love this, i was trying to work out how to fit in a water feature, plus renting it needs to be moveable.

Thank you!
