Afternoon snoozes, little lie downs, and going for a rest..

When I was working it was a retirement dream. That slump after lunch that made me want a snooze to get me through the afternoon made me add it to my list of retirement treats.

But now I am actually retired I haven't done it once! Not during the boredom of lockdown, not now it's baking and sleep at night is hard.

So I'm wondering... do many actually build this in to their day, or is a myth...?

I wish I could nap. I was a big napper as a teen and pre kids. Post kids, I never get the chance ☹️. I’m constantly knackered

Never been able to sleep in the day, even when both dc were newborns and up all night. Just can’t do it. My dh can fall asleep anywhere though. He’s like a sleepy baby- if you drive in the car and he’s in the passenger seat he’ll be asleep in 5 mins.

Mid 50s, virtually never nap but have twice this week because of the heat which really saps my energy. Just woken up now and feeling a bit grotty.

If I sat down in the day I would without a doubt fall asleep.

I am sleep deprived due to staying up too late. I am a night owl so despite my best intentions every morning, once DS is in bed (he's 12 so it's not early), I've done the housework (I work full time so tend to save lots of the jobs for when DS is in bed so I can spend some time with him), I don't feel tired and so the cycle repeats itself.

I am occassionally able to catch up at the w/e.

ALWAYS nap if you can. It's good for you!

Dh is a pro at this - but so was both his parents. I do it if it’s my last night shift going into days. Or if I’m brewing a bug, otherwise I can’t.

I wish I could but I do associate it with elderly or ill people ... I blame my parents, they thought sleep was for the weak.

I retired early and often have a little 30 minute nap after lunch when I sit down with a pot of tea. I always set alarm though in case I don't wake up in time for school run.

I’ve always loved a nap! I’ve had one this afternoon. I usually have a nap on a Saturday afternoon to recover from the week! Up until recently I had two part time jobs and some voluntary work. And the heat just makes me want to sleep now!!
