Sainsburys refusing to issue a recall on this cat food

I don't know if people are aware, but there have been hundreds of cats who have been affected by pancytopenia in the UK. Over 500 have died.

Around three different manufacturers are involved, one being Sainsburys. The other manufacturers have issued a recall, but Sainsburys have refused to and the affected food is still being sold in some stores. I'm a member of a facebook group for this issue and it is full of heartbreaking stories and photos of cats who have died and who are still dying.

I am disgusted that Sainsburys are refusing to address this issue.

Also, another manufacturer is having difficulty with their cat food which is making cats sick and they're refusing to address the issue as well.

I had an email from Sainsbury's at the time and was able to return two bags of cat food without a receipt no problem.

They have in ours, remember it is only two types of Sainsburys food and it is only the 800g bags.

Do you mean in the cat food section or something? Is it still available to buy?

This was taken yesterday and people have reported that managers still don't have a clue. This has also been going on for several weeks, with Sainsburys not acting.

The catfood which is linked to a different health problem is Felix, who are also refusing to acknowledge there is a problem.

The problem with the affected felix sachets appears to be linked to a factory in Russia.

As the recall said all dates on the product, do they issue a new message when it's okay to buy again?

Do you have a link to the Felix issue please? My cats have Felix AGAIL, I hadn't realised Felix was affected

Felix as good as it looks and Felix Sensations from what I can tell. I'm not familiar with the Felix range.

I didn't know about the felix thing! Can you tell me any more about that OP?

Um, this is potentially extremely libellous.

You need to be very careful re throwing those kinds of statements out there if there is no actual proof to back them up or MN (and you personally) could face litigation.

I understand the upset, but A, sainsburys have issued recall notices in their stores so that’s a libel action right there, and you’ve only posted that felix cat food is affected, with nothing to back it up, so again, another potential libel action.

Go onto Facebook and look for 'Cats recently affected by Felix food' in the search box.

Fine, it's libellous, they can take the thread down. Cats are dying, I don't care.

Purina knows there is a problem.
