🎵 Every day I hear a different story
People sayin' that you’re no good for me
Saw your lover with another
And she’s making a fool of you, oh

🎵 If you love me baby, you'd deny it
But you laugh and tell me I should try it
Tell me I’m a baby, and I don't understand

Go Wham!

@flower11

So we get to the children going back to school, next Tuesday, and dh and possibly all of us have covid! He had positive lateral flow and now we have all had pcr and waiting on results.
Jakers that's bad luck. Did DH have symptoms?
flower11 · 03/09/2021 17:26

He had a headache last night and blocked nose. This morning he felt tried and achy and a bit hot. He used one of my work lateral flows which went positive straight away. My one was negative!

So we will see what happens with pcr.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 03/09/2021 17:35

Oh no! Best of luck flower11 hope all goes OK and you and the kids don't have it as it sounds like your dh does. Hope he doesn't feel too poorly

justasking111 · 03/09/2021 17:37

Hopefully he'll pick up quickly.

Oh bugger. I'd be hoping for getting it over and done with.

I'm glad the stress is gone out of class bubbles. DS2 was a bit tired a couple of months ago, sent home after lunch and then that weekend lots of bubbles popped. He was sorted after one night's sleep and did an LFT which was clear, then his bubble popped anyway so it was all a moot point!
I can cope with accepting the DCs may well be hit with a coldy-fluey illness at some point and I'm glad that the constant threat of guilt of buggering up other people's lives for 10 days is gone.

I'm (temporailily) relieved about the current ruling on vaccines for 12-15 yo's. If it's of genuine, clear, medical benefit to them then I consider that fair play like I would with any other. I've already consented to my two's flu vaccines as usual because the risk/benefit is clear and well-established. With my oldest about to turn 11, I don't want in the near future, making him have a vaccination for minimal medical gain to himself, and having to choose it entirely for political reasons in order to see family in another country. Enough countries are doing it with 12-15s (out of desperation to beat Delta and keep numbers low) to create that pressure.
As ever, a lack of end date on measures worries me.

@justasking111

Geese have buggered off some warmer 😂😂
Yes you'd think so, but every other year previously there always has been a group of die-hard geese that stay here throughout the year!
flower11 · 04/09/2021 09:22

All four of us have tested positive. Now dealing with the nightmare that is track and trace dealing with all four of us, we all have to have separate call ! Dh is trying to do it online.

ISaySteadyOn · 04/09/2021 09:27

Good luck! That is hard FlowersWineBrewCakeGin (so you have a choiceWink)

justasking111 · 04/09/2021 20:01

OH what a pain especially if you're feeling ill 🙈

110APiccadilly · 04/09/2021 20:08

Oh, found you all again! Thread fell off my watched threads somehow. Hello from the land of perpetual masks (in baby groups, but not in nightclubs, because the Welsh government care about children so very, very much).

110APiccadilly · 04/09/2021 20:11

@Stuffin

Haven't been on here for ages but I thought of you all when a hotel booking I have emailed through that they won't clean the room during my stay for covid and bizarrely I have to ask for a hairdryer and iron as part of their new measures Confused
We booked a Travelodge some time ago (booking made before 19th July) and when I rang to ask them about having a cot in the room, they said they would only be able to do it if the rules actually did change as otherwise it would be not allowed under Covid regs.

Fortunately the trip was post July 19th so we were allowed to have the cot. (Unfortunately DD does not sleep in travel cots - at least we know that now I suppose!)

ISaySteadyOn · 04/09/2021 21:11

I have never known any baby to sleep in a travel cot, fwiw.

And lovely to 'see' you again Smile

SnapDragonQueen · 04/09/2021 21:59

Oh shit Flower what a nightmare. Hopefully you'll all stay reasonably well.

DS's cot was a complete waste of money. I don't think he ever slept in it for longer that a few seconds.

Today we went for breakfast and walk. On the way back we found a fair style thing happening in a village field so we stopped. It was so nice and non coviddy. I can't remember the last time we did something like that (probably summer 2019). It was only a few stalls, rides, an entertainer etc but it was lovely. I don't think DS really knew what to expect. He can't remember going to anything like that before even though we did loads fetes etc pre covid.

Worldgonecrazy · 05/09/2021 09:35

Just posted this on the covid board. I’m sure that the dementors will think this perfectly nornal.

There will be pressure from GPs for teens to get jabbed. On top of the usual jab payment there is an additional £10 bonus for getting teens done.

  • 14.Is there a financial supplement for vaccinating eligible 12-15 year olds? Yes. In addition to the £12.58 item of service fee, a further supplement of £10 can be claimed per vaccination dose to eligible children and young people aged 12-15 (cohort 13). Only one £10 supplement per vaccination is claimable.*

From the nhs website [https://www.england.nhs.uk/coronavirus/wp-content/uploads/sites/52/2021/08/C1384-Vaccinating-children-and-young-people-frequently-asked-questions.pdf] just in case anyone thinks it fake news.

And it was published 13 August so all the debate and mutterings in the media over the last couple of weeks have been a distraction (maybe from those pesky tax rises to pay for the last 18 months?). This is a done deal.

ISaySteadyOn · 05/09/2021 10:52

Wow. That's disturbing.

Wish me luck, everyone. I am about to go on the tube for the first time in 18 months. Got my lanyard and a book on Egyptian magic so I should be ok.

And I am going to see a good friend and have wine and popcorn and watch some scary films because we like to do that together. So I can do this.

MrsEWeatherwax · 05/09/2021 11:40

I love seeing the v shape of the geese leaving. Our village seems to have acquired some bloody huge seagulls. We are miles from the sea!
I’m no longer bothered about going into shops/bus without my 😷. I no longer care they can fuck off, still try and social distance though ( that can stay forever, unless I like you).
My DD’s both still wear a lanyards. Because they are scared.

MrsEWeatherwax · 05/09/2021 11:45

Forgot to say hope you and your family are okay flower11Flowers.
And good luck ISaySteadyOn.
I’m shocked that Dr’s get paid to extra vaccinate!

That's why they didn't refuse to vaccinate. In our surgery it was only nurses jabbing wonder if they got a cut?

Was shocked to read there's an extra bounty payment for any younguns they convince to vaccinate

smallandimperfectlyformed · 05/09/2021 14:22

Good luck flower11 hope you and the family all do OK over this quarantine period. I hope that you don't have terrible symptoms. Good luck to you too ISaySteadyOn we were on the tube yesterday and whilst most people were wearing masks there were a sizeable minority who weren't and I didn't see or detect any judgement towards them. I hate scary films but you enjoy them and the time spent with your friend!

Evenstar · 05/09/2021 15:23

We have just got back from a seaside holiday and found it was mostly OK with masks, the locals seemed quite relaxed on the whole.

Met my BIL and his wife and the first thing she did getting out of the car was put her mask on and say “I hope you haven’t got COVID”, she is a nurse and we think her anxiety has gone through the roof. She even put her mask on when walking on the beach in a brisk northerly breeze ☹️

Picture of my cat to make you all smile 😊

My cat is laying in the garden sunbathing.

Thanks for the good wishes. Dh says he feels better today so will carry on as usual next week working from home. I have headache and sore throat. Dd has a cough and the youngest no symptoms. I've already told them if they complain of being bored next week I will give them school work to do.

justasking111 · 05/09/2021 16:41

Husbands are often the worst patients so glad he's on the mend.

Lovely weather here so both dogs bathed and all their bedding washed and drying outside . Deheaded loads of flowers this is their last push. Picked a big bowl of tomatoes, added basil made some rather nice pasta sauce . Sunshine food for the winter

I've spent the evening running around trying to remember and find what goes in to school bags as they were banned all last school year as Covid hazards. Yet DS2 managed to get away with a carrier bag after I got pissed off with handfuls of random items and soggy reading records exposed to the elements. DS1 remained Covid-free all year despite lugging his laptop bag in and out every day so it didn't seem to contaminate him Grin

Wonders how many parents will be daft enough to dutifully get their face rags out for our "enclosed" playground. Stangely I always thought that "windswept" and "exposed" were better adjectives for that expanse. 84% of 16+s have been double vaccinated in our catchment and most parents should have been double jabbed before school broke up so I'm really not convinced that the usual pocket face rag will make a single percentage of difference while spending the now reduced 5 mins on the playground. Hmm
