Help me find impossible gift!

Recipient in in her mid 70s, has mobility issues due to Parkinson’s, lives in a nursing home.
Doesn’t like jewellery or chocolates and flowers aren’t allowed.

Isn’t able to concentrate on a book, craft stuff or puzzles.

No budget, she’s important to me (she’s another mother) but I’m stumped.

Before the home, I would’ve bought her something for her garden which she now doesn’t even like talking about (upset)

Help me MN!!

Thank you but She doesn’t like noise.
Should’ve put that in first post!

New jumper in a colour she likes.

Nice soap and matching hand cream. Something like Bronnley, Crabtree &Evelyn, Heathcote & Ivory.

@Dropdeadfred2

Hadn’t thought of a picture.
Thank you

Something beautiful and tactile.
I am going to get myself one of these pouches

How about a beautiful light shawl, haven't found one yet but another MN may have an idea.

Are they allowed plants? A prettily planted window box for the inside windowsill, maybe with a little watering can to go with it?

YouCannotPossiblyBeHungry · 13/07/2021 12:35

Bedspread or duvet cover, nice cushion?

HeidiHoNeighbour · 13/07/2021 12:36

She says soaps, perfumes etc are pointless as Parkinson’s has taken her sense of smell

What is her appetite like? Maybe an afternoon tea delivery or some treats to tempt her, some homes here allow visiting hairdressers / beauticians so is that an option? A nice scarf or audio book.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 13/07/2021 12:37

What about a memory book? For my parents' 50th wedding anniversary I put together a book with photos, drawings, memories etc. The whole family contributed to it. I bought a fancy photo album and glued things in to it.

HeidiHoNeighbour · 13/07/2021 12:37

No plants.
Nothing living apart from patient…. What they actually say.

Bird feeder that sticks to the outside of a window?

HeidiHoNeighbour · 13/07/2021 12:39

No appetite at all really. She’s weeny now.

Does she have her own tv and DVD player? The Crown DVD series.
I like the shawl idea. Or some really good quality socks
Nice tea, or a fancy cordial.

I'm trying to think what we've bought my DGM recently (in a care home).

They do a lot of baking so we bought her an apron she could wear for that one year. DM thinks we should buy her a tabard/smock for art as well, because they wear plastic aprons that don't really stop paint that well!

We also gave her a photo of a relative's wedding once, but i suppose that depends how much you see her and whether you have nice pictures with her.

Depending on how much time you have, you could give her a box of postcards, but you keep the postcards and send her one every week or two and she can add it to the box. My DSis and I do this. She might like that as an all year thing.

Any recommendations about a lovely soft throw/blanket?

HeidiHoNeighbour · 13/07/2021 12:42

She does have a tv but doesn’t really watch it. It’s just on for background noise

Maybe a bit dated but a digital photo frame preloaded with some nice images?

FoolsAssassin · 13/07/2021 12:47

Digital photo frame where you can remotely add photos ?

jay55 · 13/07/2021 12:48

A lovely cashmere scarf or shawl.
Not the time of year for it but will be nice in a few months and easy to manage to wrap around herself.
