15 min slot for first viewing with EA - normal?

It’s 15 years since I last went house hunting. 15 mins felt like a short appointment but guess this might be standard rather than the estate agent thinking I’m not serious?! (They have no reason to think this!)

I’m nervous. Can you tell?!

15 min slot is fine. Never make a final decison on 1st visit as most will back out. if u r still interested after intial visit, do a longer 2nd visit to decide.

The few house we've lived in, you can tell within a few seconds if its going to be the one but always do a 2nd visit. We chose the area, what we want, how much we can spend on doing it up our way, see thorugh the clutter/etc, visit the area different times of wekk, time etc, and it works

Hiya tunnocks I don't know, it makes sense in pandemic times, maybe? I seem to recall something around contact for more than 15 mins something something, so maybe this is a mitigation?
Or it might be that there are lots of viewers to get through at that property on that day so timed slots have been created?

Good luck!

tunnocksreturns2019 · 13/07/2021 09:10

Thanks so much.

It’s 0.2 miles from where I am now and I’m 100% happy with the area, so that’s one tick

Absolutely normal in this fast moving market.

We’ve also had to provide proof of finances before 1st viewing then a 10 minute slot and a best and final offer submitted to the EA straight after viewing with no option for a second.

It’s a bloody shark tank out there right now.

I don’t think it’s about this property in particular as I called on Friday and EA said they were busy with viewings all weekend but not that house in particular. I guess they’re just hectic in a busy market and yes, it makes sense re covid too.

I have my favourite shoes on. I’m sure this will help. I have job interview feelings!!

Oh I do hope I get a chance for a second viewing. I wanted to take my children to look. They are 10 and 12. I’m widowed but didn’t want to take anyone else with me today

Can’t concentrate on my work and not popping out for another hour! Will need to catch up after the viewing. I need to get a grip!

Thank you! Me too. I also hope no one else has viewed it or wants to view it 🤣🤣🤣

tunnocksreturns2019 · 13/07/2021 12:45

Oh my!

Well I was in there for half an hour and encouraged to have as long as I liked so clearly no one booked in immediately after me (previous viewers were still there when I arrived!). And I’m going back with the kids at 4pm.

The location is ideal but it’s even more of a doer upper than I’d suspected. Meanwhile I’m no longer happy with the location of our current house but I’ve got the house and garden exactly as I’d like them.

Argh! Feeling excited though.

We're currently selling my dad's property and the blurb from the agent was that viewings were 20 minutes.

Roll back to the late 1980s and when I sold my then house, the buyer came with the agent and spent around 30 minutes. She then wanted to come for a second look and spent over 2 hours! I don't think there was a square inch of the house she didn't inspect.

She did buy it though and is still living there today.

Wow she was thorough! I spent quite a bit of time looking at garden, garage and utility as much spaces are really important to me. The utility is the one room that’s much smaller than the one I have here. But there might be something we can do about that…

cobblers123 hope the sale of your dad’s house goes well. Can imagine it might be emotional.

There is a big tree in the garden with climbing footholds 😀😀

However there are definitely roof tiles that need replacing and a garage with one of those old corrugated roofs with asbestos no doubt. It’s a 1930s property
