Which footballers did you fancy back in the day?

Current England team all young enough to be my son Blush but back in the 1990s my friends were all football mad & our crushes included Trevor Sinclair, Jamie Redknapp, Graeme Le Saux, David Ginola, Ryan Giggs and loads more I can’t remember.

It was before mobile phones obviously so we used to cut pictures of our heart-throbs out the newspaper and stick them inside the back covers of our exercise books at school and get a bollocking from the teachers Grin

I used to have Mizz magazine (I think...) matching posters of David Beckham and Jamie Redknapp on each side of my school folder.

Also Andrei Kanchelskis, this is very outing but I ended up next to him on a flight a couple of years back where he shared a lot of wine and caviar with me and my friend, we arrived in Moscow rather tipsy. Sadly I didn't realise who he was until he showed me a picture from his playing days that I realised I'd had on my wall. Very, very, very different look these days... But he was very nice and most generous with the wine!

So happy to see all the love for Eric. I absolutely adored him as a player.
I never fancied Eric but he is my absolute favourite ever player. We still sing his songs at Old Trafford, it’s not Christmas until we’ve sung 5 Cantonas Grin

Yes, I know we all get older (I'm the same age) and nobody is in their prime for very long, but he really is unrecognisable. It's interesting how people like Lineker looks pretty much the same as in their younger days - a few wrinkles and grey hairs aside, he's instantly recognisable - but others look like an entirely different person.

Good to hear he was generous with the wine though!

I remember going on holiday to France in the 90’s and all the french lads on the campsite shouting “Manchester girl Manchester girl” when I walked past Grin

I must admit to developing a bit of a crush on Jordan Pickford though since the match the other night (I have no interest in football and was forced to watch it) - I’ve been having fond thoughts about him today! I’m 40 - is that bad?!! He was so adorable when psyching himself up before the penalties were taken.
