Which footballers did you fancy back in the day?

Current England team all young enough to be my son but back in the 1990s my friends were all football mad & our crushes included Trevor Sinclair, Jamie Redknapp, Graeme Le Saux, David Ginola, Ryan Giggs and loads more I can’t remember.

It was before mobile phones obviously so we used to cut pictures of our heart-throbs out the newspaper and stick them inside the back covers of our exercise books at school and get a bollocking from the teachers

Had an enduring passion for Paul Mariner of Ipswich Town, who sadly died a few days ago. I cried.

Loved Super Ally. On my first date with DH we went to a lovely country-style pub on outskirts of our city and there he was, sat at the bar. DH said I should say hello to him but I was way too nervous! Loved his partnership with Mark Hately in the early 90s, an absolute dream team.

I always thought he had a cruel face… Kevin Bridges mentions JT in his stand- up routine saying if he hadn’t been a footballer, he’d be flogging tickets for free drinks outside Ibiza nightclubs!😁😁 I agree with this!

I used to move in those circles a long time ago it was fun at the time
