Current England team all young enough to be my son but back in the 1990s my friends were all football mad & our crushes included Trevor Sinclair, Jamie Redknapp, Graeme Le Saux, David Ginola, Ryan Giggs and loads more I can’t remember.

It was before mobile phones obviously so we used to cut pictures of our heart-throbs out the newspaper and stick them inside the back covers of our exercise books at school and get a bollocking from the teachers

Ally McCoist. Having seen him doing the commentary I still think he has the je ne sais quoi....I think the sparkly, naughty eyes play a part.

Oh, that's not strictly true. I had a thing for a man City player, Georgi Kinkladze. I used to pretend my Mark Owen doll was him, and barbie was me. We had some right adventures .
I never really went for the pretty boys. Always the slightly unusual options (other than Owen!!).
In the current squad, it would have to be Phillips for me. His mischievous smile just makes the tingles in my spine go. But then so does the smile from my DP - he has the cheekiest/naughtiest smile, and it is reserved for me only. So I'd say I did pretty well despite not getting myself a rich footballer (childhood dreams ruined!).
