If you were alive the last time a men's England football team were in a final

What did your family do? Did you watch the game, or something else? I was three at the time, my mum and late dad have no interest in football, other children came later. I've been told that the three of us went on a river trip on the day, as mum thought correctly it would be quiet and it was.

Thanksbloody hell.

I was 15, I grew up in a very football orientated area (Tottenham) watched it with my Mum and sisters, my brother went to watch it with his mates.
My Dad was painting the hallway but came into the living room for the extra time.

We watched it at my aunt's house and I remember it very clearly. I come from a football mad family on both the paternal and maternal sides. How it passed my sister by I don't know. She has never been interested in football at all.

I was 8. My parents were not even remotely interested in football and I was not aware of the World Cup competition, nor that England had won it.

I was 5 at the time and I don't remember it at all. BUT my dad went on about it for the rest of his life...yawn

I was a teen, with my German exchange girl staying! Talk about a nightmare. I couldn’t watch towards the end, far too wound up.

Ditto when England were playing Australia, rugby World Cup, 2003. A dd was working in Oz at the time and said they were so cocky, certain they’d win, and one newspaper had printed a pic of Jonny Wilkinson’s boot, for them to stick pins in!

I had to go out for the last few minutes, just couldn’t bear the tension.

I was five in 1966 and I certainly remember a lot of the excitement around it, with World Cup Willy and the song and things. I'm sure my parents watched the match but I don't think I did.

We were on holiday in France when they won the World Cup a few years ago, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and I loved seeing how excited everyone was after the final.

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER

I watched the whole of the 2003 final until I just couldn't bear it anymore. I had just left the room when DH gave a huge yell!
