DH sent my son to school with cat food in his lunchbox

Blush

I was feeling ill yesterday so stayed in bed and DH sorted the morning routine.

He packed DS lunch box and instead of putting a frube yog in his lunch he gave him a lick-e-lix cat yogurt that I buy for my rats and keep in the fridge for hot days. Both in long tubes but different shelves

Poor DS opened it too but didn't eat any. He smelled it way before it got bear his mouth, salmon flavour 😂😂

Poor kid 😂

Would I be bad for suggesting (to dh) a rat or 3 would cheer me up post Covid??
Wink

Iwantitidontwantit · 10/07/2021 21:20

Ahh those are some super cute ratties op! Reminds me of the time I'd left DD's packed lunch in the fridge and went to work. A sandwich wrapped up in foil with an apple on top. Told my mum this who packed up her lunch for her. My daughter was mightly confused when she opened the foil to find a half eaten block of feta ... that had gone mouldy Grin

Slight derail but a mate's dh once made a protein shake with expressed breast milk. He wanted her to drive him to A&E!!
Back in the 70's my df bred rats to feed his snakes!!
Luckily things change

When my ds was little he loved pepperoni in his snack. One day my DH accidentally gave him a Tupperware with about 30 slices instead of two. Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 10/07/2021 22:58

No you don't have to but because it's been really warm lately I thought it would be a nice cool down treat if they were cold.

Your rats sound very well looked after. Cold treats in hot weather and a whole box of hammocks. Love it. They’re very cute. ❤️

We got given some dog food for the foodbank in the first lockdown, which had the outer packaging removed. It looked just like microwavable ready meals. I made some very clear labels for them. although one of the army lads did offer, to try them to see if they were edible when we couldn't get hold of tinned meat at all. We refused his kind offer

MathsFail · 10/07/2021 23:49

Breast milk A&E 😂

Ahhhhhh my cat doesn't like those lick things, it didn't occur to me to give them to the rats! *Off I go

UrbanRambler · 11/07/2021 01:41

I've heard that rats are super intelligent and make great pets, but somehow I can't get my head around anyone actually having them as pets (despite the fact I had a pet hamster when I was a kid). Is it true that if they bite you they can't easily detach themselves, due to the way their teeth slope backwards?

Sounds like you take good care of the rats, buying them treats like that. Your poor son though - I bet that thing smelt rank when he opened it! Never mind, it's a useful story to bring up, in the event that your DH ever criticises your cooking (or anything else really). Grin

Nothing grim about it! I keep my goldfish's super posh gel food in the fridge 😁
