Do you restitch Primark kids clothes?

My daughters has had these leggings for around 3 months and probably wears them once a week or even less. Would you fix these by restitching, make her wear them without fixing them or get rid?

Well I would restitch as I have to right machine to do so. If I didnt I would probably just leave it

megletthesecond · 09/07/2021 10:16

Restitch by hand so they'll last the summer.

BertieBotts · 09/07/2021 10:17

I've restitched once. It was more effort to return. Just a small rip by hand.

If the clothes were already worn I'd probably just put them in the rag bin.

The bit at the end I probably wouldn't fix but the seam I repaired was showing pants so it did need fixing or binning!

Knittedfairies · 09/07/2021 10:20

I'd mend them.

Marianicka · 09/07/2021 10:22

I would fix the seam, and just tie off the ends at the waistband to stop it getting any worse.

NB Don't have a sewing machine; it would be a hand repair which would take five minutes.
GimletGal · 09/07/2021 10:28

I'd restitch by hand using a backstitch. I find small repairs are quicker done by hand than getting the sewing machine out and setting it up with the right thread colour. I backstitched and overcast, by hand, a burst seam on my fitted sheet in under 3 minutes on Tuesday.

This is why a lot of fast fashion ends up in landfill Sad

Youdiditanyway · 09/07/2021 10:46

Personally wouldn’t bother but I don’t buy from primark because this has happened to everything I’ve ever bought from there.

WhiskeyNeverStartsToTasteNice · 09/07/2021 10:49

Depends. If they were otherwise in quite good condition and my DD wanted to keep wearing them I'd restitch the loose seam. Definitely wouldn't bother with the few loose threads on the waistband though. If they were generally past their best I'd take them with other old textiles to H&M where you can get £5 voucher per bag of clothes in any condition.

BeenAsFarAsMercyAndGrand · 09/07/2021 10:50

Restitch.

The planet is going to hell because of over-consumption - why would you get rid of perfectly repairable clothes?

faithfulbird20 · 09/07/2021 11:19

@BeenAsFarAsMercyAndGrand exactly. I just wanted to know peoples opinions.

Restitch by hand! That’s not even a 2 minute job.

StrawberrySquash · 09/07/2021 17:32

Restitch. There plenty of wear left and it would be wasteful not to.

VikingLady · 09/07/2021 18:09

I've never found a single brand of leggings that didn't unravel on the bum. Even Dickens and Jones.

Just restitch them with a small zigzag stitch.

BackforGood · 09/07/2021 19:11

Yes I'd mend them, if they were ones she liked / wore regularly.

This. I've paid £3 for leggings, I've paid £40 for leggings. They all go the same way.
lucysmam · 09/07/2021 19:22

Yep, I'd fix them too!

Kona84 · 09/07/2021 19:30

I always mend.

bonfireheart · 09/07/2021 19:32

This is why primark is a false economy.

AnonymousUser12 · 10/07/2021 09:38

I'll say mend but in reality they will go into the to do pile and then be grown out of 😄

CeeceeBloomingdale · 10/07/2021 09:39

I'd hand stitch them, it takes two minutes

DaxtheDestroyer · 10/07/2021 09:45

I mend clothes all the time. Seams that go, hems that drop down, take in elastic, let out elastic, mend holes, replace buttons/hooks etc. The only time I wouldn't bother would be if they were about to be outgrown anyway.
Im not a great sewer but I'm fairly competent. I think it should be a basic life skill taught to everyone, like learning how to cook,

Riapia · 10/07/2021 09:59

My DM always re stitched buttons on before wearing anything.
