Would you buy an Audi TT

If you only had access to one car, and had a 14 year old son (single parent)

Basically have choice between this and a Jag Fpace.

I do occasionally need a 4WD, but as it’s only usually me and ds in the car or me and dp it feels ridiculous rating round a huge boot and back.

((Currently have a Ford Ranger))

Apologies, couldn’t find a car topic

I’ve had two TTs. Both roadsters. Loved them both, but entirely impractical. 😆

Great fun, but not a family car. My experience with Audi garages wasn’t good though. They would persist in talking to DH. He would point to me and insist they speak to me. You do get a lot of men trying to get away from traffic lights before you too. I’d usually let them go, but now and again, I’d put my foot down so they could see my dust.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 06/07/2021 20:36

Try it first - I find Audi standard seats to be an instrument or torture.

daytriptovulcan · 06/07/2021 20:37

Why only a choice of 2 cars.
The audis tt a nice second car, but not as an only car.
Why not a bmw coupe...sporty, good looking and much more practical, 4 seats. Get a plug in hybrid one as well

Another TT S line quattro owner here and I absolutely love the car! Heavily pregnant at the moment and refuse to sell it so my DH had to change his car for a bigger one that we will use as the family car. I would always go for Audi, there is a reason why the price difference between German and French cars is so big (no offence to whoever said earlier that Peugeot is a nice car).
I would really encourage you to go for a test drive OP so you can get a feeling of the car-the boot fits a standard pushchair without a problem and I find the front seats really comfy; and very fast too of course

Redtartanshoes · 06/07/2021 20:43

They are just the 2 I’ve narrowed it done to.

Please don’t scare me with talk of pushchairs…. Ds is 14. There will be no more 😂

Seats shouldn’t be an issue as I’m only 5”2

Have filled in a thing on line to request a test drive…. I’ll now by plagues by car sales man for all of eternity.

Also decided which ever I buy it needs to be white. ((Fussy)))

@Yellow85

I’ve driven both. Hated the Audi for space and it was fortune to run/fix. That being said, whilst the F Pace was substantially bigger, the inside felt really sh*t. Like really plastic and cheap - not at all what I expected from Jag so I felt it was a waste of money. If space isn’t an issue the TT was much better internally.
That's because Jaguar spent all the money on performance and none on making a fancy, moving living room for old people.

BMW are the worst for this and TBH I like Audis and Jags but Jags are niche cooler now with the new management and style.

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/07/2021 20:45

Noooooooooooo

Jags are BRG or cherry red and audis are grey or silver.

Americam · 06/07/2021 20:45

I can’t comment on Audi service because I found an independent ex-audio mechanic. But I only see him once a year for the annual service

PurpleIsTheColour · 06/07/2021 20:49

@Redtartanshoes, mine’s a white one 😂😂😂😎
Love it but blimey, it needs a car wash every week. Maybe it’s just my driving and doing 100 miles a day 😉

Redtartanshoes · 06/07/2021 20:53

Current one is black. It never looks clean.

I see more of the polish dudes at the local car wash than I do my son 😂

OP posts:
Yellow85 · 06/07/2021 20:56

@MrsTerryPratchett completely agree. I’d rather have the too spec Skoda Kodiaq with all the trimmings for less cost. The Jag is only nice to those on the outside.

My Ford Galaxy was nicer inside 😂

Ekofisk · 06/07/2021 21:23

See this is where you’ve gone wrong - teenage sons make great cat valets.

Redtartanshoes · 06/07/2021 21:31

@Ekofiskthis could be very true based on the time he spends in the shower….

Alas he’s a lazy toe rag.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 06/07/2021 21:49

@Ekofisk

No!

No-one can valet a cat.

Look at the sad face.

Just noticed that.

Lol

Mine is black. I got my youngest ds to wash it once. I never knew it was possible for a car to look dirtier after it had had a wash …

TakeYourFinalPosition · 06/07/2021 21:52

I bought a beautiful but hugely impractical mini coupe in my 20s. I loved the bones of it, but it guzzled fuel, got through a bizarre amount of Audi tyres, and the lack of back seats was pretty inconvenient…

But I don’t think I’d go for an F Pace either, they are lovely but more so on the outside! I’d go for something with a luxurious inside.

Sweetpea84 · 06/07/2021 21:54

I really want a G Wagon! Need to win lottery first. Dh has a TT when I first met him 16 years ago we now have sensible cars 😂

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 06/07/2021 21:55

Volvo XC60, T6 R Design with PoleStar

Former TT Owner.

dreamkitchenhelp · 06/07/2021 22:07

I think if i had a choice i would go for the Volvo XC90 or 60 or Range Rover Evoque.

Ekofisk · 06/07/2021 22:11

Oh yeah, sorry, last time I valeted the cat there was an “incident” involving my handbag and cat vomit. I wouldn’t recommend that.

Kjr33 · 06/07/2021 22:13

Neither get a little merc small backseats if needed, maybe the convertible e class. E 300 amg maybe

MummyJ12 · 10/07/2021 22:35

Not sure that this thread is still going strong…
Really not sure that they would/could have done this in an F-Pace….(Really hope the link works!)

newnortherner111 · 10/07/2021 22:44

I wouldn't have either. I'd get your best lines to negotiate planned, and the second any car dealer tries to talk you down or act any differently because you are a woman, be very assertive.

AgathaX · 11/07/2021 09:55

Mercedes SLK rather than a TT. I think it's a nicer drive, although it's a proper two seater so no good if you need to fit more than one passenger in.
