38 years. One of my favourite songs, I really wanted to be Siobhan and I may have even had a pair of dungarees. Pah! tho the Spice Girls those three were the original Girl Power.

Thank you. Escapism from serious grownup, need to do that more often

@Fistful Ignore the haters, it's a stone cold banger. I still know all the words.

@HerBigChance

Keren was always the cool one, though.
No sorry you're wrong, Siobhan was always the cool one. Keren changed her name from Karen which I always thought was a bit lame.

Our Lips Are Sealed.
(Fun Boy Three).

Loved that - got it stuck in my head now!

Sidge · 29/06/2021 22:10

Can I chuck some Howard Jones into the mix?

Bananarama were ace. Loved their style, you see them now on old TOTP and they look like they were just decorating their mums living room in their dungarees and tatty T-shirts.

I hate the song Don’t You Want Me. The lyrics are awful.

But I did love going to Woolies on a Saturday to listen to the new releases in the Hit Parade on the headphones in the little booth, before buying my 7” single (or 12” if I was really flush and had birthday money or something).

Bananarama takes me back to my primary school days.

I agree with the poster who said Siobhan was the cool one.

In fact, the best thing she did was leave Bananarama to form Shakespeare's Sister.

Saw them live a couple of years ago and they looked and sounded fantastic. Siobhan was so energetic and charismatic on stage.

Sara and Keren published a book last year - Really Saying Something. It had great reviews.

MsRinky · 29/06/2021 23:42

Ooh, Terry Hall, still setting my heart aflutter after all these years...

Love the bit in Rita,Sue and Bob too when they are dancing to Bananarama (More than Physical?) and just looking at each other and pulling faces.

MercyBooth · 30/06/2021 01:03

@WingingItSince1973 Im a 1973 baby too.

Bringing in I"ll Keep on Loving You by Princess which constantly got played on the radio in the coach on the school trip to Switzerland in 1986. Hit That Perfect Beat Bronski Beat. The Motive Then Jerico Love Pains Hazell Dean. Charged up an old mp3 a while ago with a load of 80s songs on it...........these were amongst them.
Prefer the Liza Minelli version of Love Pains though which was on the album Results which she did with the Pet Shop Boys.

I like the bit when they are dancing to Black Lace Gang Bang!

Love it! Remember dancing to this at my first house party…great memories

I like the bit when they are dancing to Black Lace Gang Bang! Yes when Michelle's mate sees him and goes round first thing to dob him in. I'm currently watching The Arbor and most of the film is autobiographical. It's utterly heartbreaking seeing how the authors children ended up.
