Help me please!

I’ve tried everything. Straps, insoles, heel pads, physio, massage, stretching, yoga, laying off the running and doing swimming and cycling instead.

But it still hurts. I’m at my wits end!!!

I’ve done 3 yoga classes this week and I’m still in pain ffs.

What is wrong with me?!

I don't know, but I could have written this so I'm hanging around to see if anyone has any good advice! So frustrating.

FakeColinCaterpillar · 26/06/2021 20:15

The way I cured mine was taking ibuprofen, wearing trainers and walking through the pain, it was agony. It took a while but it only occasionally gives me grief now, mostly if I am inactive. Walking helps keep it in check.

Mull · 26/06/2021 20:16

My PF is getting worse which is definitely linked to my weight increasing Sad Could this be the same for you?

I've never looked back since wearing Sketchers all the time

MiddleClassProblem · 26/06/2021 20:18

It takes months. It’s awful. I did find rolling a tennis ball under foot when at my desk or watching tv on the sofa helped but not sure if it was all jut in my head!

Insertfunnyname · 26/06/2021 20:18

I get this. Don’t go barefoot EVER. You need insoles in slippers to wear round the house and fit flop ergonomic fit flops (from Amazon) in the summer for outside so you’re never with no arch support. Or Birkenstocks or proper supportive trainers. That’s basically your only choice of footwear!

Never ever barefoot.

devuskums · 26/06/2021 20:18

Have you tried the foot roller? It's honestly the only thing that ever got rid of mine.

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 26/06/2021 20:19

Wearing Fitflops cured my friend's PF as well as doing all the stretches. It's painful I know

Popcornbetty · 26/06/2021 20:20

Sketchers made the world of difference for my feet.

SuperCaliFragalistic · 26/06/2021 20:21

Sketchers work. I cant wear flip flops any more.

Merchymor · 26/06/2021 20:21

I had several ultrasound sessions with a physio.

She also gave me exercises to do at home.

And I bought Vionic shoes, ugly but brilliant when I need to walk a lot.

Lemonysherbet · 26/06/2021 20:21

I'm in a similar position. I've tried stretched, ice packs, insoles, never going barefoot. I'm currently at the consultant/ physio stage.

The consultant said if everything else fails you can get a steroid injection in your heel but he said it's really painful 😬

Merchymor · 26/06/2021 20:22

Forgot to say, it's loads better now

I don't hobble downstairs in the morning any more!

mummaminnie · 26/06/2021 20:23

I have a friend who wears Fitflops and Skechers which has helped massively with her PF.

womanity · 26/06/2021 20:26

It takes months.

Find supportive shoes that work for you (I’ve tried loads, Skechers and Ryka work for me).

Cloud flip flops at home.

Never go barefoot.

Sotiredandhangry · 26/06/2021 20:27

FIT FLOPS! I can't wear anything else.
Also never go bare foot, lose weight (I don't take my own advice here 🙄)
Buy a spiky roller ball. Take ibuprofen.
I still get pain sometimes but all the above help.
You have my sympathy it's horrid.

Cally70 · 26/06/2021 20:27

I had it for about 3 years. Eventually, the thing that made the difference was shockwave therapy. Expensive and incredibly painful but it did work. I still wear my orthotics in my Skechers most of the time because I'm terrified of it coming back.

Insertfunnyname · 26/06/2021 20:28

@SuperCaliFragalistic have you tried fit flops tho? They’re for PF and have arch support. The only ones I can wear.

FakeColinCaterpillar · 26/06/2021 20:30

Oh and I rolled my feet over a bottle with frozen water in it every night. That is not fun.

LucysSkyDiamonds · 26/06/2021 20:31

Stretches, tennis ball rolling and birkenstocks or really well fitting trainers.

Authenticcelestialmusic · 26/06/2021 20:32

Nike or adidas trainers with very cushioned soles. I also got a tens machine for feet. I turn it up to the highest setting and its great. It makes you jump when the powerful setting kicks in! I sometimes use it twice back to back. It was from lidl so not that expensive.

bruffin · 26/06/2021 20:32

The inflamation of the tendon needs to come down first.
I was told to take maximum dose of ibuprofen a day ie 400g over the counter

and ice pack 2 x 10 minutes a day.

Mine was agony and disappeared within 2 weeks

WaitroseAldi · 26/06/2021 20:32

Birkenstock’s have changed my life. It hurt so much before I broke them in though.

MacCoffee · 26/06/2021 20:33

Extracorporeal Shockwave therapy was the only cure for me after years of steroid injections that had ceased to work any more.
