Help me please!

I’ve tried everything. Straps, insoles, heel pads, physio, massage, stretching, yoga, laying off the running and doing swimming and cycling instead.

But it still hurts. I’m at my wits end!!!

I’ve done 3 yoga classes this week and I’m still in pain ffs.

What is wrong with me?!

I can’t take NSAIDs due to an allergy so that wasn’t an option for me.

Thank you for all the suggestions. Lots I’ve tried but still lots to try too.

Running makes mine a whole lot more painful.

I have a question, when doing yoga would you do it barefoot or wear trainers still?

I’ve had this for over 4 years and nothing works long-term for me. A night splint boot and FitFlops, stretches, ice bottle etc all help but some days they don’t and it’s pure agony. The pain is now spreading up the inside of my ankle.

I’ve had NHS arch supports made, bought them in Boots, and the podiatrist and physio are worse than useless. Some days the pain can be so crippling it really gets me down, and trying not to feel dramatic but feel like it sometimes affects my quality of life (I don’t drive so I’m either house bound or have to put up with it).

I do yoga barefoot, my yoga teacher is very keen on doing stretches to strengthen my feet z as no lots of calf stretches, too.

I also feel it impacts my quality of life. I’m only 35! And sometimes I hobble around like I’m in my 90s!

It prevents me doing things or going out or walking too far because I can’t tolerate the pain.

I love running but I just can’t do it now.

I think mine dragged on because I had to walk the dog every day so I didn’t get a chance to rest it.

I went back to running when it had eased but shortened my stride and limited my distance.

Nightbear · 27/06/2021 15:19

I swapped to very light walking boots with ankle support and I wear them to walk the dog now even if it’s a warm, sunny day and everyone’s in sandals.

@RosesandPumpkins It's so crippling isn't it? When I had it for a year or so on one foot which seemed to get gradually better and then appeared overnight on other foot I was really losing the will. Tried all the things you can buy in Boots and online but the only thing that fixed it was a pair of extremely ugly and expensive shoes from Kybun. You can get a pair for 2 weeks to see if they work for you and from day 1 coz of the magic soles which I believe stretch out your fascia in the right way they were comfortable. Before that I was using crutches for the first 10 mins out of bed and couldn't walk more than 20 mins or so without severe pain. Have a second pair now and wore them religiously throughout lockdown. For indoors I bought some Revs sandals with those little bumps inside. Cross fingers I am cured now!

I got it a few years ago walking a lot for work after being in an office for a long time...

Nigh on impossible to walk sometimes, and it comes on quickly, like cramp, but lasts all day.

The stretching fixed it for me - having done some research and understanding what the cause was. I can't recall if I used any Ibuprofen (I probably did). I tried the fancy insoles, and some of the stretching against wall exercised to no avail, but the stretching the ankle one worked for me.

I cannot begin to imagine having to live with it long term, it was agony for me (not a mild problem).
