Party bags, are these ok?

It’s my dds 5th birthday party on Saturday,

So far for the bags we have a foam glider, tattoo, and obviously cake. Maybe some sweets?

But I bought these to go in them, will they be ok? I bought dinosaur ones for the boys.

I'd get dinosaurs for all the kids - unicorns are lame, dinosaurs are much more interesting.

MyDcAreMarvel · 22/06/2021 11:03

Definitely do sweets it’s the main thing kids care about. Why not dinosaurs for all the kids?

MyFloorIsLava · 22/06/2021 11:03

As much as I agree that dinosaurs are way better than unicorns, all of 6yo DD's friends are unicorn mad and would love that art kit.

SleepingStandingUp · 22/06/2021 11:04

Yes they're fine, I brought the Easter ones and they're decent for the price

thebattleofschrutefarms · 22/06/2021 11:05

Looks good. Agree with others, I'd just pick unicorns or dinosaurs for all.

Agree in principle but most of thev5 yo girls I know would prefer Unicorns. Unicorns are cool. Why not Unicorns for everyone
ShinyGreenElephant · 22/06/2021 11:06

They seem fine but personally I would be really irritated by a mum doing boy/girl party bags

SleepingStandingUp · 22/06/2021 11:08

Unicorns for all!

lastqueenofscotland · 22/06/2021 11:09

I would really not like girl and boy party bags. Dinosaurs are awesome and I’d do that for all personally

Lottieskeeper · 22/06/2021 11:16

These are great for party bags.
My 5 year old DD would love either dinosaurs or unicorns but I do know that some of her girl friends would prefer unicorn ones. They're just starting to get really into stationary and into mini things.

I shall get myself to The Works to get some for her birthday party bags.

WaitroseAldi · 22/06/2021 11:27

Because it’s a unicorn party?

Also, I’m pretty sure 5 yo boys wouldn’t be happy with a unicorn colouring set.

No one will know they are different. Your plan is great if you just add a lolly or a ten p bag of Haribo.

YouLookSoCool · 22/06/2021 11:33

The items you've listed plus some sweets sound great

ProcrastinationStation3 · 22/06/2021 11:35

Unicorns for all.

"No one will know they are different"

What 5year olds do you know, who don't immediately open their party bag with their friends?

ProcrastinationStation3 · 22/06/2021 11:39

Or at least give them randomly then if the kids WANT to swap them they can, but they're not being taught by the adults in their life that they have to like certain things based on their sex.

Stichintime · 22/06/2021 11:39

Unicorn party: unicorn party bag. Were unicorns and dinosaurs on earth at the same time? If not you are bringing a random creature into the mix. This is the bit that bothers me.

This reply bothers me! I do hope you realise unicorns have never existed 🤣
ForgedInFire · 22/06/2021 11:46

I think your plan is fine. I would add a little bag of haribo. My girls love unicorns, I'm not so sure what's wrong with unicorns or why dinosaurs are so much better. I would probably just offer them as unicorn or dinosaur bags instead of specifying boys and girls to avoid any potential offence

Skweeler · 22/06/2021 11:50

Funnily enough we're having a birthday party for DD and it's unicorn themed. The party bags contain: a Mr Men book, bubbles, choc sweet, a few glow in the dark stars, a glow in the dark unicorn and a glow in the dark dinosaur. Aside from the book each bag is the same. Originally I tried to go for plastic free/reusable items but it's quite tricky!

trunumber · 22/06/2021 11:54

My son would very much want a unicorn colouring book over a dinosaur one!

fruitbrewhaha · 22/06/2021 11:56

I stated giving books as a party bag gift. The works do inexpensive colouring in books or sets of books so you can hand out one each. much better than plastic stuff that ends up in the bin. All 5 year olds have got colouring pencils, he ones in that unicorn are probably rubbish and don't colour.

A pack of 10 books, £1 each

Stichintime · 22/06/2021 11:56

What do you mean, never existed?

Marmite27 · 22/06/2021 11:58

If you have an Asda, on the 5 for £1 they have a bag of unicorn foam sweets.

We had a unicorn party pre Covid. The boys got unicorn gliders. No one complained.

Why not? Do they have to colour the dinosaurs with their winkies? No….it’s a colouring book stop being sexist!
