Apart from a fire, why else might a fire engine be called out in the middle of the night?

A fire engine has been parked outside my house for the last half hour. I can’t see any burning houses or smell any smoke and there doesn’t appear to be any activity going on around the fire engine itself, it’s just sitting there... engine running, lights flashing and the whole shebang.

Any guesses?

Someone stuck in a bathroom?

NiceGerbil · 17/06/2021 00:20

Lol if there were any in the truck I'd just pop out and ask Grin

RickiTarr · 17/06/2021 00:21

Child locked in a loo?

AngeloMysterioso · 17/06/2021 00:22

I was tempted to but it’s absolutely sending it down outside!

No children in the houses opposite and the only one in my house is mine...

Domestic flood? They have pumps.
Somebody trapped in the building or a car ; they have lots of wrecking/opening tools.
Breaking in doors or providing ladder access to upper floor windows
Searching for a smell of burning from concealed space

NiceGerbil · 17/06/2021 00:28

One of the fire fighters had some kind of family thing happen and so they've popped round between work calls?

Doing the photos for a saucy calendar?

Fucking with curtain twitchers Wink

Erm..

AngeloMysterioso · 17/06/2021 00:33

I’m not a curtain twitcher, it was literally sitting right outside my house... I could see the lights flashing through the curtains. Couldn’t not notice it if I tried!

Yea the emergency lights do penetrate light curtains, even. Hard to miss.

BoredOfThisShit · 17/06/2021 00:36

Could be literally anything

IHaveBrilloHair · 17/06/2021 00:38

Someone in the house is biffing one of the Firemen?

NiceGerbil · 17/06/2021 00:39

Literally?

Broken teapot?
Alien invasion?
Assistance pairing wines for a dinner party?
Run out of bog roll?
Help needed with maths homework?

It must have been some kind of emergency to necessitate the flashy lights... but I didn’t see a single person go in or out of the fire engine or the houses opposite (not that I was keeping an eye out for dishy firefighters, no sir not me), and with where they were parked it would only have been one of those two or my own house that they were here for.

Keep an eye on your local FB group.
They'll know, in between moaning about dog shit/bin collections/the GPS phone lines.

RickiTarr · 17/06/2021 01:05

Maybe they were providing cover for an MI5 bugging operation. 🤗

Clean conscience OP? 🤭

Sparklfairy · 17/06/2021 01:10

Cant believe no one has suggested S&M gone wrong yet Grin

RickiTarr · 17/06/2021 01:10

We’re all too sweet and innocent, obviously. 😂

AnotherSunrise · 17/06/2021 01:14

Cat up a tree?
Stuck down the toilet?

GrimDamnFanjo · 17/06/2021 01:15

I was once trapped in my bathroom and had to be set free...

IAmDaveTheSerialShagger · 17/06/2021 01:18

Could be on standby for a incident.

alexdgr8 · 17/06/2021 01:36

@AdaColeman

Are they all in the cab eating fish & chips?
that is a slur on firefighters
alexdgr8 · 17/06/2021 01:41

you mentioned allotments.
so it could have been something there, not only the few houses nearby.

IHaveBrilloHair · 17/06/2021 01:45

I remember a Mnetter once got half stuck in her loft wearing a swimming costume.
Perhaps she did it again?

Gullible2021 · 17/06/2021 01:49

I had to call them out due to a massive petrol spillage in the middle of a culdesac leading up to our neighbours drive and other properties which was obviously a risk. They'd gone on holiday and their SUV had sprung a leak and the entire tank had leaked all over their drive, my drive, the road, the pavement and under my car. It was pitch black and most of the cleanup was silent and unobtrusive. Curtain twitchers wouldn't have known what was going on. It was a two man job and finished in 30 mins.

Dogging?
