harrietsunshine · 16/06/2021 17:35

Really wanted to hit the 20,000 mark but stuck on 12,000
Sometimes hit 13,000
Any tips on how to get motivated?
I walk 3 miles a day and after that my hips ache
Sometimes can go to 4 miles but I'm knackered after.
Make up the rest of the steps walking into town or browsing the shops etc

ShinyGreenElephant · 16/06/2021 17:47

Between 12 and 20k but I haven't got time to just be walking around aimlessly - thats just me going about my daily life because I don't drive

SconeJamCreamEat · 16/06/2021 17:48

I usually do around 10,000 steps a day. I'd struggle to fit in more with work/family life.

Redpriestandmozart · 16/06/2021 17:56

I have MS and I bought a Fitbit as research showed that people with MS did much better when they moved more. The first day I used it I managed 750 steps, I cried my eyes out. Now on an average day, I manage 2500 and on a super good day, I can get 5000. So much better than 750.. I know that's not what you were asking, my friend with a dog does about 20,000 a day.

Lolly34h · 16/06/2021 17:56

I was doing average 8000 and bought a Fitbit a few weeks back and am now consistently hitting 10000 but working on increasing it more and more. I think having a visual reminder of steps and exercise with the Fitbit helped me massively

TableDesk · 16/06/2021 17:57

I have Fibromyalgia, hypermobility and general dodgy joints. I suffer extreme pain which affects my mobility. My mobility also causes extreme pain! It's a vicious circle really. Life is one hard slog.

Today, I have managed 903 steps currently.
This is because yesterday I managed 2712 steps and therefore wiped out today and tomorrow.

I can only dream of 10k steps, so well done on the 12k! I think that is fantastic!

Sorry, not much help though

DollyMixtureLulus · 16/06/2021 17:58

I average 15k- teacher. I never stop moving.

lljkk · 16/06/2021 18:13

Fitbit counts steps from me cycling -- which is obviously wrong.
Real steps I suspect about 14k/day is pretty typical.

harrietsunshine · 16/06/2021 20:14

Ah well done everyone
Hopefully I will get more motivated soon for more steps.

I use a trampette first thing in the morning for btw 45-55 mins, I 'run' on it. My motivation is only there as soon as I get up, it wouldn't happen if I left it til later. If I do 55 mins I hit 10000 steps by the end. Then I normally do a walk of some sort during the day. The rest of my steps come from my part time work, and then housework/everyday tasks. I usually do btw 16000 - 22000 steps by the end of the day (less at the weekend when I don't use my trampette).

Yellowcrockpot · 16/06/2021 20:29

Between aprox 6,000 - 20,000.
Likely averaging around 8 - 10,000.

Need to loose weight so aiming for a minimum of 10,000 a day, even on my "slow" days.

Today 14,000.

Yellowcrockpot · 16/06/2021 20:29

(20,000 is an exceptional day btw)

Daisychainsandglitter · 16/06/2021 21:20

Between 13 and 16k a day. I would love to hit 20k but I have a desk job ad young children and just feel there isn't any more time in the day to hit in excess of this. Esp as I work from home at the moment.

delilahbucket · 16/06/2021 21:24

Between 9-14k. To be honest, I'm happy if I've fit in a walk at lunch time!
@TableDesk well done for your steps. I've been where you are with hypermobility. I'm not better as such, but I have got it under control enough to live "normally". Don't beat yourself up if you've used all your spoons Flowers

LuckyLuckyWoman · 16/06/2021 21:35

between 20,000 and 30,000 depending on shift. Extra on a run day.

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 16/06/2021 21:41

I'm so embarrassed. According to my counter I only manage about 3,000 on a "normal" day. I'm not even sure how far 10,000 steps equates to in terms of walking. Blush

pogpogpog · 16/06/2021 21:42

Around 12000 on non jog days. Between 15000 and 25000 on jog days (i do about 25k a week)

ThorFull · 16/06/2021 21:49

This is like the competitive under eating threads. The competitive over stepping.

For me, 5- 14k.
14k on days off- school run, housework, errands.
8-10k at work. Secondary teacher. Long periods at a desk, planning or observing. Social distancing from pupils doesn’t help step count.
5k on a lazy Sunday. Pottering around the house.

Germolenequeen · 16/06/2021 21:53

Between 20k & 25k on average - sometimes more - I work full time in a Crèche & have 3 dogs & a horse - I'm 58 so don't think I'm doing too bad 😅

TableDesk · 16/06/2021 22:20

@delilahbucket thankyou. The spoons are in short supply tonight. I'm ending the day exhausted with heavy lead legs & aching joints on 1440 steps. I find it hard to deal with and really struggle with the fact I feel so lazy compared to everyone else. I may look physically 'ok' but my body just can't cope with any more atm. I'm also be threatened with my blue badge not to be renewed when it is an essential, esp on days like this. I'm sorry for turning this into a woe is me rant.

@delilahbucket I'm so glad your health is undercontrol. Thankyou for your message.

Agadorsparticus · 16/06/2021 22:29

2000-3000 on a work day usually.
If I do a workout it gets up to 6000.

kitkatsky · 16/06/2021 22:36

How are you measuring your steps? 10000 steps is about 4.5 miles for me so id say you're walking way over 3.5 miles on your steps

longcoffeebreak · 16/06/2021 22:55

I average about 12,000 a day.

pumpkinpie01 · 16/06/2021 23:00

Average 18k a day , my daughter jokes ' is this what married life is all about asking each other every day how many steps you have done !!' 😀

Mixitupalot · 16/06/2021 23:01

I average 14,000 that’s the weeks average. However on my day off it can be as low as 2000!
