@30degreesandmeltinghere

Nearly 50 and a bit concerned.. I asked someone what her 50th felt like. She said it was like reaching mid way of a 2 week holiday and realising it's nearly over.. Shock Not sure how I feel about that. And after tomorrow I will have a dc who is 32!! Shock
Oh dear. I don't think that's a bad thing though as then you focus on making the most of the second week!
MistySkiesAfterRain · 16/06/2021 12:50

I'm 41, work in the charity sector, in a pretty demanding job (posting on mumsnet- its lunch time!), my heart is all over the country but I am based in the south east, had a hell of a few years health wise, but excited about the future.

Single no DC, I believe I will meet someone but my attitude to (biological) children is que sera, as I can't face the grief all in one go but I think that's okay.

I'm optimistic, happy, very grateful for family (who are 50% nuts) and friends and stability. Prone to stress and taking proactive steps against stress and to exercise more in my 40s- if ALL I achieve in my 40s is keeping fit I see that as a pretty good investment.

30degreesandmeltinghere · 16/06/2021 14:05

I have had a hectic first 50 years. Hoping to wind down and relax a bit for the second half!!

More me time.
And ddog time!
I love my ddogs!!
May fit dh in now and then!!

My mum is nearing 60 and none of us can believe it

I think nowadays with people living longer 50 isn't what it once was, I was listening to a woman's hour podcast the other day (an old one tbf in very behind!) but they were talking about how women now live longer without a period then they do with one and they were asking women how that made them feel. I think it's wonderful.

@bloodywhitecat

Late 50s, recently married, mum to two adult kids and foster mum to two small babies (one just a couple of weeks old), owner of a hellhound called Shitbag Alf.
You sound like an absolutely marvellous person

How are you finding having such a young baby to look after?

@MayIDestroyYou

I'm another person who likes the anonymity of MN and is always suspicious of innocent-seeming fishing threads.

Hmm

Fair do's

I'm just lonely and bored, spending my days breastfeeding my baby and trying to get her to sleep! Don't worry!

@TheLovelinessOfDemons

What is it like being a SAHP? I have considered doing this although things would be tight

Could you not do something work-wise with flexible hours from home?

I have no idea what you're interested in, but I was recently considering training to be a conveyancer. There are huge companies that will pay you to carry out the job from home which can be fantastic for fitting in childcare. It's probably enormously stressful but I liked the sound of it.

I'm 30, a single mum of one. I'm an extrovert and have a really busy social life. I like to be busy and on the go!

I feel very lucky for the life I have and enjoy it.

PlanetTeaTime · 16/06/2021 20:22

@Nietzschethehiker

Your job sounds hard but interesting, do you love it?

All the best families are nuts in my opinion

@CaptainSpirit

Wow you're on to number 3 and you're only 25! I really feel behind. I'm one of those really indecisive people who worry too much, so kept umming and ahhing about whether or not to have a baby and of course now she is here I spend 90% of the time thinking she's the most wonderful thing that's ever happened to me.. and asking myself questions like "how many more can I have??" and the other 10% weeping that I can't do it and I'm a bad mother and I need to nap!

Love that you're so happy.

@Hairbrush123

I’m male, 25, live with my DP in Dorridge, Solihull (such a stunning village), we have no children and I’m currently training to become a tax specialist Smile.
What does a tax specialist do?

I'm sure that is a stupid question, but I just don't know 🤷🏻‍♀️

I will have to live well into my 90’s if I’m going to live longer without a period than with. Early starter and late menopause.

bloodywhitecat · 16/06/2021 21:45

@PlanetTeaTime

Thank you

How are you finding having such a young baby to look after?

I love it. I have found it much easier than I did when I was in my late 20s and my own children were babies. I know the sleepless nights will pass at some point and I am far more confident in the decisions I make around looking after my fosterlings than I was back then.

Hairbrush123 · 17/06/2021 15:57

@PlanetTeaTime so I advise clients on tax regulations and inform businesses/clients on how much tax they need to pay - it’s a form of an accountant. Might sound boring but I love it! Grin

I think that's really interesting. Certainly a lot of responsibility as well.

I'm in my 30s. Young family and husband.
I'm more of a girlie girl than I ever was. I love the finer things in life and I have some amazing friends & family.
