Mine is toilet roll and cheese! 🙈

@BillyAndTheSillies

Toilet roll definitely! Dishwasher and washing machine liquitabs.

Squash! Why is it so expensive?

Fresh juice, I find myself saying "once it's gone it's gone! I'm not replacing it until the next shop" just like my Mum. Totally understand why she'd get so frustrated when we'd come home on food shop day and guzzle a carton of Tropicana.

Buy fresh oranges instead. They're more expensive but you'll find that consumption will plummet if they have to squeeze their own.

Plus it's nicer.

Tins of tuna! Sometimes I only got one sandwich out of a can Grin

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 09/06/2021 01:15

FelicityBeedle · 09/06/2021 01:45

@Dasher789 You must be lavish with the tuna!

IHaveBrilloHair · 09/06/2021 01:53

Corned beef.
I thought that was a cheap sandwich filling, it's bloody expensive for meat in a tin!

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 09/06/2021 02:07

Prams and buggies.
Just never really thought about it but reckoned around £50 to £150 would be fair.
Nope.

Susannahmoody · 09/06/2021 02:11

Meat
Petrol
Coffee
Holidays 😱
Kids?!?

Carycy · 09/06/2021 02:12

Bedding. Especially when you have a super king. We have no spares.

Susannahmoody · 09/06/2021 02:16

I've never worn contact lenses, but with the cleaning fluid, cases and other paraphernalia that goes with them, I don't imagine they're cheap either.

^

I get dailies and they're around 50p per day (I . E. For both eyes)

Have you checked your local FB groups?
Mine are constantly selling prams of every type.

Software Grin
Somehow I believed all these cool programs are just built in to the cool computers and once you have paid for the computer you are free to have everything you want. Boy, I was wrong. Thanks goodness for the discounts and free options like Photodiva or MS One drive

HeronLanyon · 09/06/2021 05:56

Agree with so many -
Sanitary products.
Printer ink
Carpet
Curtains
Boilers !!
Le creuset (i came to fully understand why my ma was angry when I used one (the big huge one) for some mud/soil game and left it outside for weeks until it was discovered).
Shoes and clothes - was a child in 60s/70s before cheap unethical imports was such a big problem.
Bikes and other things we used to sling around carelessly.

HeronLanyon · 09/06/2021 05:57

Sorry - breached the request for one - I’ll stick with printer ink.

Paripale · 09/06/2021 06:00

Getting in outside help for anything house related - gardeners/roof maintenance/painting and decorating/ wiring work. Where I live (SE) it seems like contractors take a reasonable sum and put a ‘0’ or two on the end.

Pet costs (vet / health insurance).

Dental costs - it seems really unfair to have to pay so much for something that is usually painful and unpleasant.

Gilly12345 · 09/06/2021 06:29

Houses, new windows, new front door, decent conservatory, new boiler, decent car, life.

malificent7 · 09/06/2021 06:40

Houses, cauliflower, cherries, cheese, butter, vinyl records, kids, life in general

FlatStanletta · 09/06/2021 06:55

So many things but I actually remember being shocked when out for dinner in a nice restaurant as a student (I was with my much older cousin who had a job) and the bill for 2 (with wine etc) was £50! I couldn’t stop thinking about it in horror for days.

FlatStanletta · 09/06/2021 06:56

Or maybe it was £100 for 2 and I had to pay £50… either way I was broke afterwards! But it was a good night

PussGirl · 09/06/2021 06:57

Cleaning products
Cherries
Cashews
Fresh herbs

ItsReallyOnlyMe · 09/06/2021 06:59

My DD has just bought a house with BF.

She is astonished at the price of ... kitchen bins. (Actually she has a point - £70 unless it's the swing bin type).
