What's your go to dinner when you've got nothing in the fridge and you're doing a food shop the next day?

If its not a takeaway obviously..
I always have copious amounts of tinned tuna and pasta in the house so it's almost always tuna pasta!

Spinach Ragu (frozen onion, tinned mushrooms, jar garlic, thinness toms and frozen spinach.) Normally have some carrot spaghetti in the freezer. Topped with whatever random protein is in the fridge/freezer (egg, halloumi, chicken). Bliss.

Something batch cooked from freezer that I’ve been ignoring for —years— some time

Carbonara (almost always have eggs and pancetta/lardons)

Chili - I keep a ready made bought pouch. Although only if we have yoghurt

I have a great Patricia Lousada recipe for tuna pasta which is a tin of tuna and a tin of anchovies mashed together and stirred through pasta. Is great but really simple.

In summer a salad of cold pasta, tuna and finely sliced tuna with chopped parsley from the garden is nice. Bind it all together with a splodge of mayo.

Coconut dal or risotto of some sort!

Scarby9 · 04/06/2021 22:51

Tuna pasta
Jacket potato and cheese or tuna or coleslaw or beans
Tin of soup
Cheese on toast
Scrambled egg on toast

ImbarbaraB · 04/06/2021 22:51

Eggy mish-mash

(Eggs, mixed with anything in fridge)

PinkTonic · 04/06/2021 22:57

If it was just me I’d probably have cheese on toast, but I could always make a puttanesca sauce or carbonara.

RedcurrantPuff · 04/06/2021 22:57

Ha I am in a similar situation and had tuna pasta earlier.

Lentil Dahl tomorrow

Omelettes and baked spuddies (not together) are another option

Bvop · 04/06/2021 22:58

Quorn sausages, baked beans and scrambled eggs

PattyPan · 04/06/2021 23:01

De cecco gnocchi - it lasts ages in the cupboard so we always have one in. Or spaghetti aglio, olio e peperoncino (spaghetti with garlic, olive oil and chilli).

Kinsters · 05/06/2021 02:33

Tuna pasta or egg, butter, cheese pasta. Or fried rice cause we normally have leftover rice, eggs and either old veg or frozen peas etc.

LaBellina · 05/06/2021 03:29

Fried eggs
Pasta with tomatoe sauce, onion and whatever veg I have left in the fridge

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 05/06/2021 08:02

Tuna pasta with condensed mushroom soup and peas.

Or if there are sundry ends of veg, inc. that one lonely wizened carrot, the last bit of cauliflower or broccoli, etc., then as long as I have onion and a stock cube, a soup with whatever veg, red lentils, pearl barley, a bit of pasta, etc.
