He was so lovely and didn’t seem shy as me and my kids watched him through the window!

Do any wildlife experts know.. rabbit, or young hare?

Beautiful!
I was lucky enough to once see hares boxing.
One of those experiences in life you never forget.

DramaAlpaca · 21/05/2021 21:14

That's definitely a hare, he's lovely.

@SappysCurry you could well have seen a mink in Ireland, there's quite a lot about. I've seen a couple of them.

@DramaAlpaca
Thank you- I will never forget it, one of those things that sticks in your mind you know? How his coat glistened in the sunshine and he just appeared from nowhere, moved very fast too. We were the only people about and quiet it was over too fast but I remember it clearly and how gorgeous it was.
They escape from fur farms Is that correct? Not a native species.

@FindingMeno I too had that luck.

Had just flown into Edinburgh, my brother driving me 'home' and so excited. When he pulled off the road and told me to get out, I was not happy. Until he told me where to look. At a field with two lines of hares, all upright on back legs. And then they rushed forward towards each other to box. It was astonishing and glorious. What a gift.

Now I’m having great memories of Hartley the Hare in Pitkins.

Yes! And Octavia. I loved Pipkins.

But not Topov and Peeeeeeeeg.

Aunthe · 22/05/2021 10:03

OP, you and your son are so lucky to have seen this lovely hare. I grew up in central London and us Pipkins generation had to make do with this type of hare.

Shareddriveagghh and

Makes me think of Hare in Little Grey Rabbit.

longwayoff · 22/05/2021 13:25

This is part of the pleasure of mumsnet. Snarky bitching and CF complaints abound then something absolutely hilarious or lovely will change our mood. Thank you OP, hope you see him again.

eddiemairswife · 22/05/2021 13:25

I have a badger visiting each evening. If I haven't put food out it comes right up to the window and glares at me.

mrwalkensir · 22/05/2021 13:25

if any of you are on twitter, you need to follow @countrymousie (H) who has a good relationship with her wild hares....
