So sat here reading at the weekly newsletter from Which, and realised how old this was making me feel but how much I secretly love having a Which subscription!

What other things do you love that you used to to think were only for old people ?

National Trust Membership.

Filling in my Census form. Im mid thirties, but i was living abroad in 2011. But now, I'm officially an adult on record.

Eating whatever I want!

To clarify: when I was a child, I thought that being able to eat whatever I wanted, such as a chocolate donut for supper, was the height of adulthood. And now that I'm an adult I don't feel the need to eat chocolate donuts for supper because I have the right to make that choice.

Having cans of fizzy drinks, instead of pouring from a 2 litre bottle.
Buying whatever I want in gift shops.

Mattress shopping
Sofa shopping

Actually preparing everything me and my DS needs the night before. Growing and birthing a child didn’t make me feel grown up, but actually being prepared at the start of the day does!

Oh and the satisfaction I get from cleaningBlush

CheerfulBunny · 22/05/2021 19:15

Putting petrol in the car. Parking effectively (a rare occurance)

DinosApple · 22/05/2021 19:22

Talcum powder Grin. That stuff is awesome. My granny gave me some as a 14th birthday present and I found it recently during a house move, unopened. It smells great and it's so soft and warm after a shower.

Unfortunately in the intervening 25 years or so it's practically disappeared from the shops.

Also feel grown up, and super organised when I dress dcs in colour coordinated vests and pants! Grin

beggingforsleep · 22/05/2021 19:29

Putting salt and rinse aid in the dishwasher!

ConfusedAdultFemale · 22/05/2021 19:29

When someone actually listens to advice or information I give on topics I have a good knowledge on. Spent my entire childhood (and majority of my adulthood) not being listened to. The rare occasion someone actually listens to what I say I feel adult as hell.

CandyLeBonBon · 22/05/2021 19:30

Getting divorced!

WineAcademy · 22/05/2021 19:43

Enjoying wine. I didn't like it until just recently and now I almost even have favourites.

IhaveMyMoments · 22/05/2021 20:02

Being married.
Pretty much doing what I want buying what I want when I want

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/05/2021 20:29

taking my kids to A&E.
it's like as if I was a responsible adult

jennytheonionslayer · 22/05/2021 20:48

Having plant food in the house, don't know why but it does!

That’s because it was found to cause cancer I believe.
Winkywonkydonkey · 22/05/2021 20:54

Mowing the lawn

Thecazelets · 22/05/2021 20:56

Having adult dc!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/05/2021 20:59

@Thecazelets

Having adult dc!
interesting! that doesn't make feel grown up, just old🤣
naemates · 22/05/2021 21:17

I still feel cool driving my car and buying coffee from Starbucks.

Little naemates would think I'm cool.

Cam2020 · 22/05/2021 21:29

Gardening!

tobee · 22/05/2021 21:31

Driving.
Going to bed when I like.

I'm such a baby that I still get a thrill from that. I'm 53 fgs.

CustardGoodJamGoodMeatGood · 22/05/2021 21:36

Food shopping. I have my own DC but she doesn't make me feel like a 'Grown up', I'm still in disbelief I'm a parent I think😂

GarlicThread · 22/05/2021 21:40

Having my own DC doesn't make me feel grown up, but having their friends round for dinner after school does. I feel all smug that I'm actually in charge of someone else's child for a few hours!

CaptainCallisto · 22/05/2021 21:40

Wearing shoes that clip clop when I walk. I'm a 36-year-old, married, homeowning, mother of two, but I still get a grown up thrill whenever I hear my footsteps clopping up the corridor at work Grin
