If you did something lovely for someone and they gave you a gift what would you like it to be?

Budget is around £20 and I need to be able to post it or have it sent direct to them. I've had a look around but nothing is grabbing me.

Have a look on etsy, all sorts of hampers and treats on there.

MadMadMadamMim · 19/05/2021 19:24

Book token always does it for me.

Cookerhood · 19/05/2021 19:25

A plant arrangement? Longer lasting than flowers.

Tulipsinmyvase · 19/05/2021 19:27

Prosecco/wine, nice chocolate, a plant ..

HelenaJustina · 19/05/2021 19:28

Book token, really nice chocolate from local chocolaterie (niche!), gin, flowers.
Whatever, I’d just be very grateful that you had taken the time to say thank you.

ChicChaos · 19/05/2021 19:30

We've recently received some vouchers for a local restaurant (one that we've been to before and liked) from someone we helped which was nice.

SoddingWeddings · 19/05/2021 19:30

Booze! You can send a nice bottle of rum, gin, whatever, for about that on Amazon.

If you prefer a small business, then cookies, cake mix, that sort of thing if they like them.

mrsm43s · 19/05/2021 19:33

Honestly, I'd stick to wine or flowers or maybe a fruit basket.

Book tokens are the worst gifts ever! Especially now most people use kindles.

kowari · 19/05/2021 19:36

£20 of decent dark chocolate from a small business like cococaravan. Or other consumables from a small business, preferably local to me.

lastqueenofscotland · 19/05/2021 19:37

Wine

OnASwankyMarleyPond · 19/05/2021 19:37

Bookblock do some lovely boxes - I’ve sent a few to friends to cheer them up in lockdown and also received one. The packaging and quality are wonderful. You can choose your own gifts to go in or pick one of the curated ones. I think I’ve got a referral code for 20% off; Pm me if you want it Smile

Otherwise I love products from This Works - the pillow spray has always been really effective for me. I think they do little testers of the pillow spray and a calming roll on, which was a godsend as a new mum gift!

HollowTalk · 19/05/2021 19:40

Who is the person and what sort of things do they like?

SunshineCake · 19/05/2021 19:43

Thank you so much. These are all great ideas. It is for my oldest friend but we've lived hundreds of miles apart for 30 years and don't know her day to day drinks, food, etc etc.

Cheese

CafeMochaVodkaValiumLate · 19/05/2021 19:45

I just bought a 'customise your own hot sauce' for someone from Condimaniac. I really thought it was so good!

Wigeon · 19/05/2021 19:45

I’d honestly be more than happy with flowers. A friend recently sent me a card with a thoughtful message and packet of wildflower seeds to thank me for something I did for her, which I was very touched by, and it probably cost her less than £5 in total. But that didn’t matter.

KingPong · 19/05/2021 19:46

I’d like a Space NK voucher to get a little luxury item or to put towards something bigger.

Neom also do little gift sets which are always fab.

mrsbyers · 19/05/2021 19:46

Ringtons hamper , ideally a biscuit one , even more ideally Brazil Nut cookies - I’m sure they are loaded with class A’s

polkadotpjs · 19/05/2021 19:46

Cheese for me too please
Or very good chocolates
Or a brownie delivery "bad brownies" are good
Or wine- decent bottle or a couple bottles
Or if you know her well enough to know if she likes make up then a fancy item or some nice shampoo and conditioner, a lip gloss or similar
Or a nice hand wash set
Anything consumable really !

shewalkslikerihanna · 19/05/2021 19:50

Good chocolate
Nice flowers
Bottle of gin
Or just a thank you card

SoapboxFox · 19/05/2021 19:55

I would most like a plant or flowers. Or perhaps some really good tea/coffee and biscuits.

CrystalMaisie · 19/05/2021 19:57

I was sent homemade chocolate brownies (from a special bakery) and they were amazing, best present ever!

NewMatress · 19/05/2021 20:05

"Thoughtful" presents when you don't really have a clue are usually a waste of money IMO, so hard to get right and useless if you get it wrong. If you don't have an idea that you know they'd love, go for booze, edibles or flowers/plant.

Bvop · 19/05/2021 20:12

I’d like a hand-written thank you letter and nothing more. A box of fortnum’s sweets or biscuits if you insisted.

bluechameleon · 19/05/2021 20:38

Letterbox biscuits from Biscuiteers. They are beautiful and delicious and far too expensive to buy for myself. More like £25 though I think.
