Just for fun, what is the most irritating thing your partner does? Just one thing, which isn't easy if they're like mine as I could fill the thread by myself. Thankfully the none irritating things are even more plentiful. And for balance, what would they say about you?

My DP still drives like he's just passed his driving test. He believes that test level driving is the pinacle of good driving rather than the minimum standard. And it drives me up the bloody wall so much that I'll only go in the car with him driving if I need to sleep so I can't see what he's doing. Other drivers think he's a learners without L plates on.

If you asked him he'd say my most irritating behaviour is opening windows when the heating's on. He thinks I'm happy for him to pay to heat the whole of northern Europe.

My DH has NO perspective. He loves making a huge drama over fuck all.

I'm extremely messy apparently, although ^^ see above. I'm not that messy.

BaublesAndGlitter · 19/05/2021 21:06

He has noise following him around no matter what he's doing / where he is in the house. He puts the radio on his phone in the morning and carries it around with him. When he gets home he puts a podcast on his phone, puts phone in his pocket and just carries on his day. Infuriating.

If you asked him, I think he'd be torn between me leaving at least 1 thing out of place in every room and the amount of pots & spoons I use when I cook 👩🏼‍🍳

Pansypotter123 · 19/05/2021 21:09

Breathe....!

Mrswhirley · 19/05/2021 21:21

@Pansypotter123 you beat me to it! I was thinking exactly the same!

Popcornbetty · 19/05/2021 21:25

Puts his damp swim towel in the laundry basket instead of airing it first Sad
Leaves receipts etc in his pockets in laindry basket meaning it goes all over machine
General mess and stuff laying around from him, i gifted him a wallet/keys/phone organiser; does he use it? Nope this has become cluttered with more stuff!

CheeseIsMyJam · 19/05/2021 21:27

Doesn't rinse the bubbles off stuff when washing up, just dumps it on the draining board covered in suds. Gives me irrational rage.

FuckyouCovid21 · 19/05/2021 21:28

Rubbed his lower legs and feet together, All. The. Time. Constant bloody rustling. And the way he cleared his throat, horrendous

FuckyouCovid21 · 19/05/2021 21:28

I'm now happily single

anothercovidxmas · 19/05/2021 21:30

@Unreasonabubble he told me he deliberately didn't do it until I was hooked, he knew it was a showstopper. Like all good marriages though we've compromised and he does it at home and we never mention it in company

hopeishere · 19/05/2021 21:31

Puts it the tv on in every room and the leaves the room. I can then hear them all out of sync.

Also doesn't close the door of the downstairs loo.

Justmuddlingalong · 19/05/2021 21:32

Mumbles. I used to constantly say "pardon, what did you say?" Now I just let him carry on, without asking what he's saying and I haven't missed anything important yet.

Roominmyhouse · 19/05/2021 21:34

Doesn’t rinse the sink properly after washing up. Leaves bubbles and all the bits in the sink every time!

Hacks into the butter rather than taking a chunk or swiping the knife over.

MamaWeasel · 19/05/2021 21:37

Mine is a faffer and sighs. a lot.

I, however, am practically perfect in every way......

AzkabanPrison · 19/05/2021 21:38

We can be watching something on the tv and he says oh what was he/she in? I don't recognise them but he is adamant he knows them from another film/programme. He will then spend the next 5/10 mins trying to find out the actors name and then google them to see what else they had been in and if he was right to recognise them. He used to make me pause whatever we were watching!

FatCatThinCat · 19/05/2021 21:44

Another of my failings which I know drives DH up the wall is me meal planning, ordering all the food, but then ordering a takeaway as I can't be arsed to cook any of it. In my defence, I have a severe sleep disorder which is why I sometimes can't be arsed, and why DH dutifully goes out to collect it while hiding his frustration.

Sneezing. Loud and harsh.

And leaving water bottles all about the place. Kids have also started doing it.
DH also bikes, DD1 plays hockey multiple times a week.
I am often found throwing the bloody things around the kitchen whilst muttering I am the only 1 in this family who doesn't use a bloody water bottle and I'm the only one who fucking washes them.

@NeedCoffeeToSurvive

Hardly says a word all day but always starts babbling about nonsense just as we get into bed to sleep, he spent half an hour the other night rambling on about how he won't eat bean sprouts because they're too squeaky.
I'm sorry but I love this, made me laugh so much!!!
FatCatThinCat · 19/05/2021 21:56

Another thing DH does is feed the birds. Sounds harmless enough right? But he takes his responsibilites to our feathery friends very seriously. He refills the feeders every night and if they're all empty he puts up more as there clearly aren't enough to feed all the hungry ones. We currently have in excess of 40 of the bloody things around the garden. I feel like I'm in a Hitchcock movie when I go out in the garden.

do you need help with your relationship

Justmuddlingalong · 19/05/2021 22:06

No. Why, can you recommend a spell to cure all of our minor irritations, @mcCharthy?

Timeisavirtue · 19/05/2021 22:28

I’ll be postering around a room he’s in and he don’t say a word, the minute I go to leave he all of a sudden needs to talk to me. He also talks over me and that is one of my pet peeves.
