Just for fun, what is the most irritating thing your partner does? Just one thing, which isn't easy if they're like mine as I could fill the thread by myself. Thankfully the none irritating things are even more plentiful. And for balance, what would they say about you?

My DP still drives like he's just passed his driving test. He believes that test level driving is the pinacle of good driving rather than the minimum standard. And it drives me up the bloody wall so much that I'll only go in the car with him driving if I need to sleep so I can't see what he's doing. Other drivers think he's a learners without L plates on.

If you asked him he'd say my most irritating behaviour is opening windows when the heating's on. He thinks I'm happy for him to pay to heat the whole of northern Europe.

@anothercovidxmas Puts ketchup on steak and you are still married because...

00100001 · 19/05/2021 19:51

Keeps multiple old Screwfix catalogues ... I threw away one that as about 4 years old, oh my god, the mardiness.... 🙄

tempnamechange98765 · 19/05/2021 19:52

Oh my gosh, there are just too many. I could write a book!

I think the most annoying one has to be his time keeping, he’s always late for everything - not hugely late, but he probably arrives at places at the time things start (eg DS’ expensive 30 minute swimming lessons, he will arrive in the car park at 10am which is when they start, not factoring in the time to get out of the car and walk the fair way to the pool with dawdling DS in tow). He doesn’t learn from this because in his mind he’s not late, but he never leaves the house when he needs to, and is always the last one to leave while the rest of us are in the car!

He has so many annoying points though. If it weren’t for me being so annoying and intolerable myself, I’d LTB.

purpleben · 19/05/2021 19:52

Unable to clean his own toothbrush 🙄 so bloody annoying

tempnamechange98765 · 19/05/2021 19:53

He would say the most annoying thing about me is that I’m bossy and controlling and never let anything go. He’s not wrong.

Workinghardeveryday · 19/05/2021 19:53

Eats like a total pig but doesn’t think he does. Slurps everything even chips, loud crunching, chomping, eats with mouth open and to top it off knife and folk in wrong hands

gamerchick · 19/05/2021 19:58

@Krook

...sneeze too dramatically.
Yes.

Mine will sneeze dramatically... Over and over and over again until every single muscle in my body has tensed. He can't help it but I've been known to do a FFS ! On occasion.

Just sneeze normally if you're going to do it for ages.

FatCatThinCat · 19/05/2021 19:58

I put up with mine because the good points do outweigh all the petty, irritating stuff. So yes he drives like a muppet but he also takes my car out ever Sunday evening to fill it up with petrol for me for the week, and he does all the maintenance and sorts out servicing and MOTS for me. So I close my eyes, take a deep breath, and try to resist the urge to beat him to death with a copy of the Highway Code.

Can I only choose one?!

Eats a bowl of weetabix in the morning, leaves the dregs in the bowl on the side "to soak up" AngryConfused

Has a habit of walking away when I'm talking. Not a big issue, but if he comes into the room and starts talking he immediately expects me to stop whatever I'm doing to listen to him - even though I can multitask..

He'll walk through the house to ask me a question about something that was in the same room as he was in originally. So for instance - he'll come to ask if the washer is empty (he was in the kitchen). Open the flipping door and look!!

Any more?Grin

gamerchick · 19/05/2021 19:59

How for me will be I wash his coffee cup. Apparently it builds the flavour in-between coffees Hmm

FatCatThinCat · 19/05/2021 20:00

It's very hard to just choose one isn't it. Grin

But I see most posters are avoiding confessing to their own most annoying traits. Grin

Complains he has a cold, headache etc. Refuses to use any medication - paracetemol, aspirin, Lemsip etc because his grandmother once told him his immune system needed regular exercise to stay strong. Takes up a position on the sofa in the living room with remote in hand and moans loudly and continuously about how much he is suffering. 🤯

Cindy87 · 19/05/2021 20:05

Sweeps but then leaves a little pile of sweepings and doesnt get the dustpan out to clean it up.

Snores.

Vapes.

Chews too loudly.

Can you tell I'm due on?

LoudNowSing · 19/05/2021 20:11

Talks all the motherfucking time. Talks to himself out loud when he's not talking at someone else. He even talks in his sleep at times.

He would probably complain that I don't talk enough. Grin

roseylemonade · 19/05/2021 20:11

Leaves his clothes all on the floor. All the time. I'm sick of picking them up.

idontlikealdi · 19/05/2021 20:11

Leaves pan to soak and never ever takes them out.

Bawdrip · 19/05/2021 20:13

Answers a different question to the one I asked every single bloody time. I ignore it now and repeat the question in exactly the same way I first asked it. He's starting to get the hint very slowly

Checkingout811 · 19/05/2021 20:15

Doesn’t close draws properly. So will get out boxers or socks and then push the drawer but not fully shut. Really winds me up! So frustrating!

twoticksvix · 19/05/2021 20:19

@LookToTreblesGoingTreblesGone

My DH is a drummer. And his legs are constantly moving with a beat plus one hand so much so that I can't sit on the same sofa as him, because the constant leg movement jiggles me about and vibrates through the sofa. He does it in bed too before he nods off.
@LookToTreblesGoingTreblesGone My DH also a drummer and also does this!!! Drives me insane!!!!!

My husband does the a leg jiggling thing too (he's not a drummer so no excuse)

It irritates me to no end and when I point it out he denies it everytime Hmm

NeedCoffeeToSurvive · 19/05/2021 20:20

Hardly says a word all day but always starts babbling about nonsense just as we get into bed to sleep, he spent half an hour the other night rambling on about how he won't eat bean sprouts because they're too squeaky.

meow1989 · 19/05/2021 20:26

Taps/fidgets
Throws his dressing gown on the floor next to the bed every bloody day
Accents and impressions

macshoto · 19/05/2021 20:35

Most irritating thing is a lack of self control (with alcohol and food) - spirits unless hidden are consumed by the bottle, chocolates by the box. More minor irritation is leaving everything out on the kitchen work surfaces after making breakfast or lunch.

My greatest fault in DW's eyes has to be interrupting her or trying to finish her sentences. She's adapted to rural life and I work at London speed and sometimes my enthusiasm for her to get to the point overwhelms me. Sad

Toilenstripes · 19/05/2021 20:38

Splashes water all over the kitchen and bathroom countertops and floors. And then I lean over the sink and soak my top.

You should have him watch some of Reg Local's videos on YouTube or even buy him a day with Reg Local (reglocal.com) - a former police advanced driving instructor who does 1:1 coaching for a day at remarkably reasonable rates. His book, Advanced and Performance Driving (on Amazon) is a good read.
