Sweating/deodorant

Hi all
Hope everyone’s keeping well and staying safe.

TLDR Down below because I ramble too much Grin

I’ve been struggling with my sweating for a while now. I’ve been looking around on here, and it seems that mitchum is a go to for a lot of you. I struggle with sweat patches/ never feeling dry. Mostly, I think it’s in my head and I overthink it too much, but honestly it’s affecting my social life because I am so uncomfortable in myself, I don’t allow myself to let loose or be free physically in case I smell. I try and wear baggier clothes to avoid the worry. I want to wear those tighter and lighter tops in my closet!!!

I used natural deodorant for around 2 years and then it kind of stopped working. Then I started with Sure spray deodorant antiperspirant again - waste of time! Makes you sweat more, plus overpowering smell, maybe it’s in my head but felt like it was all I could smell on myself. Did some research, purchased mitchum roll on and stick. And have been experimenting ever since. Mind you, I’m quite dry at home but that’s granted I’m not moving around as much.

I’d say the mitchum roll on is alright I just made the mistake of buying the unscented - I feel it makes me smell damp? I also hate waiting for it to dry

The stick .. is also alright, It just kind of gathers in my armpit creases and leaves white powder. Super embarrassing. So better when I’m shaved, but still kind of sticky. Great for smell though. I actually quite like the stick, everyone swears by it, so please help me sort out the residue issue!!

Either I’m doing something wrong or .. sweating will forever be the bane of my life.
Please tell me how you use your mitchum deodorant if you use it?

TLDR: I’m always worrying about sweating/smelling, tell me how you use your mitchum deodorant, or what else you use !!

Also I’m always using antiperspirant not deodorant that’s just how I refer to it!!

Thank you so much I know this was long I just honestly have been in my head about it for months now it’s kind of upsetting xx

@Notaroadrunner you don’t experience any residue or like it forms a line of white by the end of the day in armpit crease?
Thank you all again I appreciate it a lot

Can I jump on and ask a question....
I don't have a wet armpit problem, but I have started to really notice a BO Smell?
I never used to smell, even when I was wet a sticky and boiling hot!
Now, I smell at the end of the day not matter if I've had a busy day or laid on the sofa doing nothing????
I've tried mitchum and I can still smell myself.... Not sure if I'm paranoid?

fluffysocks345 · 15/06/2021 10:40

@OhDearWhyAmIFatterly
What deodorant do you normally use? as you don’t have wetness?
I’d say use a loofa, scrub well, bar soap. As others said on this, might need to over scrub those polyester pieces of clothing to really get bacteria out.

At the moment I use a mens roll on then when that dries I spray with mitchum....
The smell is definitely on me not my clothes, it's horrible!

fluffysocks345 · 15/06/2021 11:24

Maybe try a new roll on, could be bacteria build up on that
Could be diet , drink more water
maybe go deodorant free when you’re at home for abit to clean our your system
Sorry I cant be more help

No worries, sorry for jumping on the thread!!
I like the idea of being free for a day to see what happens...

Perspirex is amazing, I'm one of those sweaty people who will have it running down my side in the middle of winter.

I used it for around 3 or 4 nights when I first got it, from then on I only have to use it every few nights as a top up. It creates a temp gel plug to stop sweat:

Are you drinking more coffee than normal? This made me hum!

Or any other changes in your diet?

Dove invisible dry works for me.

Does anyone have anymore laundry tips? I use kitchen, wash with soap, try and avoid synthetic fabrics and I don't have huge sweat issues but what there is always makes my tops smell. Even when clothes seem to come put ok, as soon as I wear them and they get warm the smell starts to come out. And aftwr a while i can smell it even unworn straight out of the machine. I'm having a real problem with merino wool tops because I wash them on a cool and gentle cycle and it doesn't seem to see anything to clear smells from underarm.

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 15/06/2021 15:05

I do drink alot of coffee....

Turtlesone · 15/06/2021 15:13

Try Triple Dry. I love it and use it daily although can be used every couple of days. I used to have the exact same issue as you and be so paranoid about it. I’ve been through most the suggestions above and my favourite is definitely Triple Dry. Driclor works well but it does sting. The ‘stick’ types work but I find leave white marks on my clothing. The most important thing is that you can stop the sweating so just try a few and see what works best for you. Honestly life changing for me when I discovered all these deodorants, after years of social anxiety over it!

ChubbyMsSunshine · 15/06/2021 15:35

You need an antiperspirant not just a deodorant. And sprays have never been as effective for me as roll-ons. Put loads on and let it dry before you get dressed.

A friend uses natural deodorants and they don't work Blush, especially at this time of year!

Do you use biological or non biological? I use non bio and do an extra rinse. I also every now and then do an empty wash with white vinegar at 90 degrees as it cleans the drum.
Fluffycloudland77 · 17/06/2021 20:47

Can you dry clean it? Wools so tricky to launder.

I’m going to try triple dry, it’s not tested on animals either.

Have to admit I've never thought of dry cleaning - always associated it with suits and prom dresses not plain tops. Maybe I should give that a go. My machine has a wool cycle so it has never seemed as faffy as hand washing but equally it just doesn't seem to work as well as I would hope.

Should probably try and clean the machine too - it always seems to end up smelling musty.
