What shortages do you notice in the shops?

I can't remember where I bought a glass bottle of Coca Cola Yalang Yalang a while ago, I now can't find it anywhere.

Americans are apparently experiencing a shortage of chicken.

Are shortages sorted now, are we still in 'Feed the nation' mode?

Cat food. European toiletries and beauty products or their prices have gone through the roof

Paint. To be precise Johnston's Acrylic Durable Matt! It's for a colour match. I've painted the whole room but it's one coat and patchy so I went to buy a second tin 3 weeks ago. Nothing and still nothing. They say it's an ingredient in the paint that's in short supply. All they do is shrug and say "Brexit".

We couldn't get a small double bed for dd , everything in our price range was out of stock. Not sure why? We finally got one then checked later on to get the measurements and was sold out again.

Plenty of marmite on Amazon, or in Costco. I always buy these big tubs anyway.

We’ve struggled to even get green peppers. I remember a couple of years ago there was supply issues with peppers and cucumbers because of floods in Spain so guessing it’s a brexit issue 😡

Marmite!!!! Even Amazon hasn’t got it!

@Chemenger

Red, yellow and orange peppers have been mainly absent from our Sainsbury's for weeks. Plenty of horrible green ones though. I suppose I could buy them and let them ripen - would they?

No they would go mouldy before they ripen. That's why red peppers are more expensive, they need a lot longer on the plant to ripen. I can't stand the green either, it is just not right and gives me indigestion.

You could try frozen peppers, but they are not the same. Maybe try growing some, they are easy to grow.

@LactoseTheIntolerant

Marmite, I had to compromise and get the reduced salt one, just not the same!

There was something on R4 about this. Due to beer production being down due to lockdown.

I've got a spare jar. Thinking of selling it on eBay Grin.

Someone above said garden furniture. Same here. It's very scarce and more than twice the price it was last year. I bought a table and two chairs for €45 last year, the same set this year was advertised at €115 and sold out within a day.

There's a shortage of peppers here in Ireland too.

Fresh fruit and veg are very hit and miss where I live. Sometimes there is plenty sometimes literally non of a certain thing.
No peppers one week then no tomatoes.
I definitely notice the supply chain isn’t as smooth. Cat food down to the last box in Sainsbury’s this weekend.

I think some of it is Brexit but alot of it is supermarkets tweaking supply chains so there is less stock en route as this cuts costs for them (less held in the system) and prioritising more essential items or items that don't have such easy subs. Retail even food is struggling with rising costs for a range of reasons incl Brexit/import export issues and delays.

All businesses are seeing a rise in operational costs even if its supplying masks and cleaning materials and signage but could also be production lines at 50% staffing so reduced production but same fixed costs

I think they are holding less stock in store and have seen lines cut back - certainly on the online shopping frequently things not avail even stuff like lettuce although presume that is as its often brought in from Holland.
