Just that really - so busy today and totally first jabs for early 40 year olds. Really feel like we're getting somewhere! Smile

Lucky them
I'm in Scotland age 47 and not been called for a first one yet

My brother and sister are in their early 40s and were vaccinated in Scotland before I was able to book mine - I'm in my early 50s and live in England.
IggyAce · 03/05/2021 14:32

My dh got his first today and I get my 2nd on Thursday, really feels like we are getting there.
Today I realised with lockdown lifting that I haven’t done any of my usual local walks for weeks I’ve enjoyed travelling a little further a field.

dementedpixie · 03/05/2021 14:33

They must have had a mitigating reason to get done early then. Have they said they are a carer for someone or have they medical reasons to get it?

Scotland is not very far through the 45-49 age group yet although some areas may be further ahead than others

sunnyblackwidow · 03/05/2021 14:37

DH 47 & me 45 north England - getting our first vaccine today

amusedbush · 03/05/2021 14:43

I'm in group 6 (underlying condition) and should have had my vaccine by the end of March. I've been chasing my appointment since the end of February and it's still nowhere to be found.

My GP says it's nothing to do with them, the health board keep saying it has been passed to the appointments team, the NHS Inform helpline can't find anything for me on the system and just tell me repeatedly "your letter will be with you by the end of the week". I filled in the missing appointment form online and they've come back to say I'm not even in the central database.

I'm happy for everyone getting their vaccines but I'm pretty pissed off by this point as nobody seems to be able to do anything at all.

namechange202086 · 03/05/2021 14:46

@dementedpixie Western Isles are now vaccinating over 18s.

sunsetsand · 03/05/2021 14:47

@amusedbush it is your GP. If they've got you listed as group 6 then you're eligible.

Neonprint · 03/05/2021 14:47

Great!! Grin

I spoke to the receptionist about it again a couple of weeks ago and she was unbelievably rude. Put me on hold, came back and snapped "I can't see any reason whatsoever that you should be eligible for it now". I pointed out the reason I'm in group 6 and she said there's nothing they can do and just to wait.

But the fact that the vaccination team emailed me yesterday to say I'm not on the central database makes me think the surgery hasn't listed me as group 6...

Laiste · 03/05/2021 14:52

DH (fit healthy) 41 called up. Midlands. They're racing through 'em here :)

Ilikewinter · 03/05/2021 14:54

I received a text from gp earlier in the week to say Saturday was an open day at the town hall for anyone over 40. No appointment needed just turn up.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 03/05/2021 14:57

Northern Ireland are already a week into 30+ Grin

sunsetsand · 03/05/2021 15:01

@amusedbush I've heard of a few that weren't listed even though they gave a condition, get called for the flu jab etc.

Ridiculous really, I wouldn't bother arguing with a receptionist at this point. They're vaccinating 30 somethings in my area so I'd book myself in ticking the carer box and then tell the vaccination centre about my condition (take evidence). They'll jab you Smile

Duckyneedsaclean · 03/05/2021 15:04

@amusedbush it definitely sounds like your GP hasn't got you coded correctly. Anyway you can get a callback from a GP rather than receptionist? (I know they're hard to get past sometimes!!)

You can't book yourself for a vaccine in Scotland (I got really excited when I found the booking link but when I filled in the details it said I'm not registered with a GP in England - whoops!) but you can register yourself as a carer and get an appointment sent out quickly that way.

I know it's a loophole but I'd feel terribly guilty doing it that way.

I'll give them a phone tomorrow and basically insist. I wouldn't be so pissed off if someone would just try to help but I've been blocked at every turn because in Scotland you just have to wait for the letter. Everyone sends me to someone else, who invariably tells me my letter will be with me shortly.

A manager at the NHS Inform helpline phoned me and told me "I think you just need to be more patient" with a shitty laugh. I've been patient for months!

Tippexy · 03/05/2021 15:11

Do you have asthma @amusedbush?

CatFaceCats · 03/05/2021 15:13

Fit and heathy 39 year old in Scotland (Aberdeenshire) going for mine tonight! Loads of my friends in my age group lates 30s/early 40s from my area all going tonight. My ex (45) and me myself both received our letters on Thursday.

DinosaurDiana · 03/05/2021 15:14

My siblings are late 40’s and have been invited but won’t go 😡

amusedbush · 03/05/2021 15:14

@Tippexy

Do you have asthma *@amusedbush*?
I don't, no. I'm in group 6 due to my BMI (which I'm working on but the GP knows I was diagnosed with Binge Eating Disorder in 2010 and have been referred for therapy twice so it's a constant struggle).

They have a recent record of my weight and should have passed this to the health board.

Boysnme · 03/05/2021 15:14

@dementedpixie

I suspect it depends on where you live. Most of our friends and family in our region have been invited to get their vaccination all around age 45-50, some might even be younger. Family older than us in other areas have not had their appointments through yet so it’s not the same all over scotland.

thefishthatcouldwish · 03/05/2021 15:19

That’s fab. Although I haven’t had my vaccine yet. ( I have deferred it until June as am 36 weeks 2 days pregnant).

In my local area they are on the over thirties and have the reserve list ready open for 18 year olds

JimBobNoJob · 03/05/2021 15:40

People in the under 50s age bracket are struggling to get appointments here. Everything seems to have slowed down. Our surgery hub is now closed to all under 50s. They’ll be finishing second (Pfizer only)vaccines then that’s it. Anyone waiting For second Az have to go the one other place available. So because they are having to take the overflow from surgery, people who are eligible now are struggling to get first appointments!

It’s ok if you are willing or able to travel but many aren’t so are still waiting!

They were flying through at the start though.

Tippexy · 03/05/2021 15:42

That is frustrating @amusedbush. I’d call the GP in the morning and spell out the the receptionist that your BMI is 40+ and therefore you are entitled to receive the vaccination. They can’t argue with the green book!
