Just that really - so busy today and totally first jabs for early 40 year olds. Really feel like we're getting somewhere! Smile

Yeah get onto them @amusedbush

Ask for an urgent appointment and when they ask what for just say I can't discuss it except with the GP.

A BMI over 40 is now known to be a higher risk than COPD. Only being an elderly male is riskier.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 03/05/2021 15:47

I'm 41 and had my first on Saturday, as did 42 y old dh.

I'm not loving the side effects tbh!

MummyJ12 · 03/05/2021 15:49

I’ve been trying to book mine for a week, I’ve been offered a vaccination centre in London and Southampton. I live in York! There’s a mass centre 1 mile away from me. I’ll keep trying..... it’s great that we’re making progress but it feels like a postcode lottery at the minute and I also wish they’d sort one group with first appointments before offering and opening it up to the next.

AlternativePerspective · 03/05/2021 15:49

@ amusedbush Your GP should be able to flag to whoever that you should be categorised.

I was told by my GP’s receptionist who was a rude obnoxious woman who gleefully laughed and said that I wasn’t categorised at all and that it wasn’t her problem. I am in heart failure and should essentially have been in group6. However my hospital rang me personally to say that they had me listed as CEV and would I like to go there for my vaccine. I had to travel an hour to get there but that was a price I was prepared to pay. I’ve now been fully vaccinated.

Someone told me that this particular hospital had a record of some patients who should absolutely be vaccinated as priority. As they would be the ones treating me should I catch COVID it makes sense that they would want me vaccinated and not likely to enter on to their radar.

Are you under a consultant because of your weight? They might be your next port of call.

QueeniesCroft · 03/05/2021 15:52

In my county, over 18s are now being offered the vaccine. My 19 year old son had his on Saturday (he has no health conditions, so it's just because of his age).
It helps that there are less than 30,000 people in the whole county though!

I'm glad your hospital took charge and you're now vaccinated.

I've been offered zero assistance with my weight for years. I yoyo between a BMI of 27 and 40 every couple of years and it's a constant struggle. NHS therapy has not helped and I can't afford to go private. Weight loss surgery would be an absolute last resort and I don't want to go down that route.

I've started calorie counting again and I know I can shift the weight but nobody will help with the mental health side of it, so my demons are still there even when a much healthier weight.

Spudlet · 03/05/2021 15:56

Had my first one yesterday. I’m 38. Half of the parents from DS’s class seem to have had theirs yesterday too. We’re all registered with the same GP and they’re texting patients 50 at a time with a link to make appointments at a local centre. It’s all very efficient. DH hadn’t had a text yet though as he didn’t tick the box allowing them to text him - now rectified so hoping he’ll get his call up soon.

sunsetsand · 03/05/2021 15:56

@amusedbush so your BMI isn't over 40? In that case then I think they're right, you're not group 6.

My BMI is 40.1 currently and the GP has a record of this because I had to see the nurse for unrelated bloods at the end of February and she did height/weight/blood pressure and noted it on my record. She told me what my BMI was at the appointment.

Greenrubber · 03/05/2021 16:01

I've just got my letter I'm 40 and in Scotland

BetterKateThanNever · 03/05/2021 16:15

I'm 25 and had mine before DH (38) who was given a booking, showed up and told he wasn't on the system. SIL is 18 and had her second on Friday! So odd how it's working, hopefully you all get through soon.

We are in the York area & my husband has been checking the NHS site all last week. The nearest was Elland Road but he didn't particularly want to drive an hour to Leeds then appointments at Askham Bar popped on on Friday afternoon so he is booked for next weekend. I think it really is a case of checking 3 times a day which is a bit of a pain. I had my first at the GP so hoping I get my second there too.
MummyJ12 · 03/05/2021 18:15

Hi @Collywibbles that’s great to hear. I’m glad he got sorted. It’s definitely pot luck. I was on the phone to them on Friday afternoon, and they couldn’t help. They could book my second in at Askham Bar but would have to go somewhere else for my first. It’s crazy! I’ve been checking 5 times a day. But least I know now there’s hope! Thank you

BraveBananaBadge · 03/05/2021 18:50

42 and had mine on Saturday at a large vaccine centre in a nearby uni... was really surprised to be surrounded mostly by old blokes, 70+! Where've they been, they would have been entitled to it months ago?

Spudlet · 03/05/2021 19:33

Maybe they were getting their second doses?

BraveBananaBadge · 03/05/2021 20:14

Oh yeah GrinGrinGrin
In my (limited)defence most of the older people I know had their 2nd a while ago now for varying reasons so I forgot there'd be lots till waiting blame the side effects Confused

mindutopia · 03/05/2021 20:22

Dh is 34 and had his 3+ weeks ago. We are well into early 30s/20s here. I’m 40 and had mine last month and most people were 40/50s then.

amusedbush · 06/05/2021 16:10

Thanks for all of the advice on this thread, I've just had a callback saying I can get my vaccine this evening!

Rockbird · 06/05/2021 16:19

Ooh I've just come to the end of the thread and was getting angrier and angrier for you but yay! Excellent news Wine

amusedbush · 06/05/2021 18:31

Thank you for the anger on my behalf Grin

The centre is only a 10 minute drive from me so I was there, vaccinated and home within an hour of the phone call!

MummyJ12 · 08/05/2021 14:24

Finally got a local appointment for mine! Was jabbed yesterday Smile. It was only a little clinic in Haxby and there was only one other person there. He wasn’t sure he wanted the vaccine as it was AZ and I’d say he was in his fifties.

Oldraver · 08/05/2021 14:28

I'm in group 6 (underlying condition) and should have had my vaccine by the end of March. I've been chasing my appointment since the end of February and it's still nowhere to be found.

That's ridiculous. I am group 6 ang get my second this week. From what I heard it's GP's who lead on this group as they hold your records

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 27/05/2021 08:42

Northern Ireland has just rolled out the vaccine to all adults Grin
