How much is your weekly food shop?

Lelophants · 01/05/2021 21:30

Ours is around £150 which I know is a lot for 2 adults and a toddler Blush We are home for all meals and eat a lot it seems! We are also letting ourselves buy all sorts of food and enjoy that with covid and not spending on much else. If we needed to budget I would get it down though!

I wonder how much most people spend?

£200 a week, two adults and a teen with an adult like appetite.

I am quite extravagant though I suppose

sweetypop · 01/05/2021 23:08

150-170 2 adults, 2 teens and an 8 year old. We don't buy alcohol but our fridge is stacked with chocolate, about a tenner of that is cat food and then we do buy a lot of bottles of water and cans of drink

ChocOrange1 · 01/05/2021 23:10

Two adults, 4YO and baby.

We spent about £60 a week.

MyNameForToday1980 · 01/05/2021 23:10

We get a shopping delivery every 5 days and it's usually £110-130.

2 adults (WFH so home for three meals a day) and 4.5 year old (primary school).

redandwhite1 · 01/05/2021 23:16

2 adults are home for all 3 meals

6 year old for breakfast & dinner but has a packed lunch for school

We spend about £100 a week

Milkywaystars · 01/05/2021 23:16

Was around £65 weekly pre covid but now has crept upto almost £100 weekly. That's for 4 of us with both adults wfh and packed lunches for 2 primary aged children. We cook from scratch mostly so all fresh ingredients and meat/fish. We're teetotal so no alcohol in the shopping basket.

LBOCS2 · 01/05/2021 23:19

£150 a week, give or take, 2 adults & 2 children full time and a teenager (with hollow legs) we have shared custody of. We budget about £700 a month for food, which includes a crate of wine.

Doesn't include takeaways.

Madeoftea · 01/05/2021 23:25

About £60 weekly for 2 adults but allow up to £80 if toiletries/cleaning products are needed. Home to make all meals and never buy alcohol. Occasional top up for fresh salad or a pint of milk.

Eyevorbig0ne · 01/05/2021 23:36

About 44 weekly
2 adults 1 teen

DinosApple · 02/05/2021 06:32

Budget £80-100 per week, it's usually closer to £100. Two adults, two preteens.

LibbyL92 · 02/05/2021 07:53

I live with my boyfriend, we shop at Tesco (home delivery)

Ranges from £65/£80 per week

Mehmehmeh19 · 02/05/2021 08:04

100 - 150 3 adults plus dd's partner stays a few nights a week. That includes wine or beer shopping at Aldi and home bargains

InFiveMins · 02/05/2021 08:17

2 adults plus a dog and a cat - probably about £150 a week. This includes alcohol too.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 02/05/2021 08:20

Between £70 and £120 a week, most typically about £100, 2 adults, 2 kids in double figures. Kids have school dinners otherwise this includes all meals.

Bagelsandbrie · 02/05/2021 08:26

About £250 a week for the four of us.. dc are 18 and 9, youngest has autism and is extremely selective about what he will and won’t eat. So basically everyone is eating separate meals all the time. It’s exhausting and frustrating and I really, really need to spend less but I just can’t do it. Even trying Aldi etc doesn’t work because no one eats any of the snack type stuff if it’s got Aldi on it Angry so I end up having to almost buy everything twice!

Standrewsschool · 02/05/2021 08:27

£80- £100 for main shop, plus £25 top- up. Also £100 per month Costco shop.

Hyperion100 · 02/05/2021 08:29

This is quite frankly impressive!

What are the extravagance items?

Putitinthebin · 02/05/2021 08:30

About £150 for 2 adults and 2dc under 5 but I am awful at meal planning, we waste a lot, I want to change it but it's hard to find time around my work to spend an hour sorting out shopping and organising meals. DC both have allergies too so even replacement milk for the week costs about £10.

AlwaysLatte · 02/05/2021 08:33

About £300 a week (4 adults plus dog) but that usually includes extras - some solar lights last week, for instance.

thenonsensepotter · 02/05/2021 08:35

2 adults, 3 DC.

We were spending around between £70 to £80 a week but have recently started eating more vegan foods and cutting out dairy so its gone up to £90.

ThemilkybarsRonme · 02/05/2021 08:52

£40 for 1 adult here, including toiletries and household products. It was less when I didn't have to rely on supermarket deliveries, but I buy more expensive food now to avoid the extra charge for coming in under £40. Sometimes I have to buy a bottle of wine to nudge the total up. It's a hard life! 🥳

ClashCityRocker · 02/05/2021 09:01

At the minute seventy quid a week for one.

I'm using Muscle foods food delivery plan that gives me three meals a day plus three snacks.

Usually I spend around £35 to £40 a week for just me, but circumstances have changed and I don't have the time or headspace to meal plan, shop and cook for one at the minute.

It's been a godsend, actually as before I was ending up getting takeaways all the time or living off freezer pizza.

Twoforthree · 02/05/2021 09:04

It's gone up loads since covid. Currently £160 per week for 4 of us.

I had a shock on my last credit card statement when 5 weeks fell in the date periods.

MrsPinkingtonSmythe · 02/05/2021 09:06

About £170 /200 a week. No top up shop. Three meals a day plus a treat meal at the weekend with wine or beer

Turquoisa80 · 02/05/2021 09:10

We spend £70 to £90 each week on groceries for 2 adults and 2dc. I could get it lower if we ate more vegetarian meals
