If you go into the countryside you see fields full of sheep and cows. But where are all the pigs??

I grew up in Lincolnshire - pig farms all over the shop. Lots of pigs in fields.

ureterr1blemuriel · 26/04/2021 17:10

Loads of fields full of them here (Norfolk)

Hellocatshome · 26/04/2021 17:15

Pigs won't trample you to death just chew your leg off!

allmycats · 26/04/2021 17:15

Loads in the fields close to where I live. You do gave to walk well away from usual sheep type fields to find them. You can't walk through where they are, only past the ends of the fields.

Mydogisagentleman · 26/04/2021 17:16

I drive past two fields of outdoor pigs every day in Norfolk

2bazookas · 26/04/2021 17:21

plenty of outdoor pigs in fields here; each sow has her own little hut.

sylbunny · 26/04/2021 17:23

There's loads round me. I know of at least 3 pig farms within a few miles. I love seeing them in their little piggy houses and the farmers sell the meat locally so I can buy direct if I wish.

@trappedsincesundaymorn

If you ever drive down the A303 past Stonehenge you'll find your answer OP. There's fields full of them. They used to be in the closest field to the road but have been moved back now.
Oh I wondered where they had gone. I went past Stonehenge on my way to and back from Devon recently, and couldn't see them.

Glad they haven't gone too far!

DinosApple · 26/04/2021 17:27

Loads in Norfolk and Suffolk.

I never see a field of cows and very rarely sheep. It's arable or pigs for the most part.

Q. ‘Where are all the pigs?’

A. Houses of Parliament, London SW1A 0AA

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 26/04/2021 17:32

Loads here in North Yorkshire. Quite a lot seem to be tucked away so you don’t see them from them road but footpaths pass between the fields. Not through, for reasons mentioned above.

dannydyerismydad · 26/04/2021 17:35

Lots of fields of outdoor pigs in Oxfordshire.

I've noticed one Oxfordshire farm has guard llamas to protect the sheep too.

Vooga · 26/04/2021 17:53

Outdoor pig fields near me on South coast. Pretty stinky and not in grassy fields like cows and sheeps

Vooga · 26/04/2021 17:53

Sheep lol

Woodpecker22 · 26/04/2021 18:34

There is a big pig farm on the a303 near stonehenge. I often watch them when I am stuck in the continual traffic jam there.

JustMeAndWheatley · 26/04/2021 18:56

Plenty in rural Nottinghamshire.

ProfYaffle · 26/04/2021 19:02

Agree with pp, loads in Norfolk and Suffolk but we have fewer cows and sheep.

longwayoff · 26/04/2021 19:03

On Tinder, or so I'm told.

PeterNiss · 26/04/2021 19:20

When the Great Flood came, God instructed Noah to build a sanctuary and allow on all creatures two by two.

When the rains settled and when the doves returned Noah let all the animals free to roam once more.

But pigs were unclean. They were not liked by the major religious tribes of those times.

Noah did not let them go forth. Instead he confined them to within the confines of the Ark. The Ark was 300 cubits long by 50 cubits wide. It was long, with steep sides and a shallow apex roof.

A modern pig house houses "just under 2,000 pigs" (to slip the planning net).

It is strange how those modern pig houses look just like Noah's Ark.

But with the shutters up.

megletthesecond · 26/04/2021 19:26

There's some the other side of Stonehenge. I had a thread about it once and whether they were organic.

ListeningQuietly · 26/04/2021 19:46

Interesting! Yes I've seen the ones by stonehenge. Around here its all cows and sheep with occasional alpacas.

Loads of fields of pigs round here (North Scotland).

ListeningQuietly · 26/04/2021 20:06

On chalk they cannot dig their way out.

On clay / alluvium they are a nightmare (without rings in their noses they can plough down about 18 inches)

ChampagneCommunist · 26/04/2021 20:06

They are all in Suffolk. It's the home of the pig
