What is more painful then it has a right to be?

I have cerebral palsy with weakness on the right and have plenty of injuries on that side including broken bones. The pain is bad but definitely manageable. I must have banged my left leg, nothing serious some time yesterday and oh god the pain... felt like my right pain broken hip.

When I broke my right hip the doctor couldn’t believe it was broken or I’d be crying with pain - now I understand what she meant if a slight bang hurts this bad.

My less serious answer is paper cuts - how can such a tiny cut hurt like that?

I had a biopsy on my thyroid last year - I was in the midst of a nasty condition so my thyroid was swollen and agony anyway but oh my god it was horrific. I was uncontrollably shaking and passed out when it was done..........

I have never felt pain like it, I’ve told my doctor if he wants to repeat it they’ll have to book me in for a general!

Twolostsoulsswimminginafishbow · 26/04/2021 08:36

CRPS at a site I had to have stitched on a weekly basis. That stung like a bitch. I had a line stitched in place but the stitches worked their way out of my skin every week without breaking. It was torture getting them replaced.
Restless leg syndrome isn’t particularly painful but it is irritating enough to drive you to the edge of insanity with sleep deprivation.

ShutUpAlex · 26/04/2021 08:40

I currently have lockjaw which is actually really painful!

@theworldsbiggestcrocodile

I banged by ribs yesterday (slipped over on a floor that I'd just mopped 🙄). No bruise but it hurts like an absolute bastard.
I did this and landed on my back and hurt my ribs. Took me two weeks to feel normal again

Childbirth: pretty grim
Arthritis: don't underestimate being able to walk until you can't
Fibromyalgia: imagine that achy feeling you get the day after you've been on a 10k run. Like this but on steroids.
Fibromyalgia in hands: don't underestimate your hands until you can't use them

However, I would vote pneumonia as the all-time most painful thing that I have ever had. I live with chronic pain so I am fairly hardened to it, however this is in a league of its own. Imagine your lungs being on fire, and every time you move, breathe, do anything it just hurts even more. Quite frankly I would rather give birth again.

paronychia And felon in my middle finger, got progressively worse more and more swollen and went from a bit yellow to positively green, the skin looked like it was going to split. I was in agony likenever before and no one really knew how to treat it as it needed lancing but gp wouldnt do it as he said it needed operating theatre conditions, a&e couldn’t do it so referred to plastic surgery who had me waiting all day for an op but had to send me home after 8 hours as they had no theatre space, oh god i cried all over the surgeon who came to tell me this. Id had morphine and nothing was stopping the throbbing pain. I had to go back the next morning and was first into theatre, the surgeon took a sharp intake of breath when he un wrapped it and the theatre nurse said she had never seen anything so horrendous, it exploded as soon as he put the scalpel in 🤢 it was sore for weeks but nothing like the agony of the days before the op. I have numbness and a big ragged scar on my finger now. I would rather give birth to triplets than ever go through that again.

HesSpartacus · 26/04/2021 12:00

Having an episiotomy without anasthetic. Not recommended.

Abigailandthefoxes · 26/04/2021 13:29

@Susannahmoody

Not sure if anyone has had hand, foot and mouth - but omfg the itching on my hands. So obviously it's not pain, but the frigging frustration of the itch was ridiculous. I didn't sleep for 3 nights. Hands were red and bleeding due to the scratching.

Also, what purpose does it actually serve??! It's not childbirth! There's no end result!

I’ve had it, I kept passing out from the pain. Couldn’t walk eat or drink for about six days.

Also yes to gallstones I vomited with pain on more than one occasion

Hospitalexpert · 26/04/2021 17:20

Wow this took a more serious turn than I expected. Sorry to those of you experiencing bad pain, especially if you know it will go on for a long time or forever. Flowers

@RosesAndHellebores

Wasp stings - I was shocked at the pain and the pulsing of the poison up my arm and then the beating of my heart.

Walking on pebbles or shingle - I find it absolute agony but also hated PE barefoot for much the same reason. I am sure I could have balanced on a beam or climbed a rope had I been shod. Likewise the concept of breaking in shoes - if I get a blister, or they pinch, I never ever wear them again.

Having said that, I think I have a high pain threshold dealt well with labour and was back at work 9 days after severely wedging my L1.

Yep, wasp stings are the worst.
Houseofvelour · 26/04/2021 19:45

Gallstones flare up is the worst pain I've felt in my entire life. Ten times worse than childbirth.
Joint second is childbirth and arterial blood gas test.

Couldhavebeenme2 · 26/04/2021 19:54

@Justmuddlingalong

When you burn that tiny wee knobbly bit, on the roof of your mouth behind your front teeth, by eating too hot pizza. Every, fucking, time.
Fuck me, yes. This.
PeterNiss · 26/04/2021 19:57

Torture.

Should be a walk in the park compared to what goes on overseas. But torture knows no boundaries and pain goes with it.

ladymalfoy45 · 26/04/2021 20:00

Bloody Bollocking Hell @DrMadelineMaxwell.

Houseofvelour · 26/04/2021 20:08

@PeterNiss Jesus. I'm sorry you've been through torture. I can't even imagine

CathyorClaire · 26/04/2021 20:13

Part dislocated kneecap

Splinter rammed under thumbnail. Even after it was removed, the throbbing Shock

Infection in finger pulp - another splinter Angry

And the latest crime against reason - a sprained toe. Took weeks beyond the length of time Dr Google suggested was adequate for healing to get better.

Hello Crocs and goodbye style Angry

Echobeachsomeday · 26/04/2021 20:17

Hyper mobility syndrome when something pops out of place /rib subluxations and the general ache that comes with it

AlohaMolly · 26/04/2021 20:21

Three weeks ago I dislocated my knee and it’s the worst thing I’ve ever experienced. I lay on the floor saying OH GOD. OH MY GOD, until, blissfully, I fainted from the pain. Unbearable.

I did give birth and I found mine incredibly traumatic but I never fainted from the pain!!

MamaWeasel · 26/04/2021 21:08

For me.....having a marina coil removed. I was sobbing.

For my husband.....chronic epididymitis.....I have never seen someone in such pain as that Sad

FuckyouCovid21 · 26/04/2021 21:19

Another vote for kidney stones, especially the ones that are too small to zap so you have to pass them...and you can feel every tiny mm of movement until you very painfully wee them out

OurChristmasMiracle · 26/04/2021 21:26

The numbing injection at the dentist! Why does a little prick hurt so Damn much that my eyes water?

I’ve broken bones and had surgery (2 separate metal plates one requiring a bone graft from another limb) and been fine!!

FuckyouCovid21 · 26/04/2021 21:28

Oh I almost forgot javelin arse, quite takes your breath away

CompleteBarstool · 26/04/2021 21:36

@TweeterandtheMonkeyman

Any small injury around or especially under your fingernails - why does that hurt so much !!
The other day I was talking to a neighbour over her metal garden gate and whilst animatedly waving my arms around I whacked about 3 of the ends of my fingers and finger nails on the gate.

Hurt.Like.Fuck.

GeistohneGrenzen · 26/04/2021 21:49
