What is more painful then it has a right to be?

I have cerebral palsy with weakness on the right and have plenty of injuries on that side including broken bones. The pain is bad but definitely manageable. I must have banged my left leg, nothing serious some time yesterday and oh god the pain... felt like my right pain broken hip.

When I broke my right hip the doctor couldn’t believe it was broken or I’d be crying with pain - now I understand what she meant if a slight bang hurts this bad.

My less serious answer is paper cuts - how can such a tiny cut hurt like that?

Oh that pain scale, I didn't know kidney stones were so painful.
My exh once had kidney stones. He avoided medical people like the plague (for context- he initially refused to go to hospital with what turned out to be a pulmonary embolism!) I woke up in the middle of the night to him rolling round the floor and begging for help. When I said I needed to call an ambulance he didn't object, first thing they did when we got to hospital was give him morphine.

Gallstones attack - I can't believe that's not on the list (unless it's lumped in with kidney stones)

@DrMadelineMaxwell

Trigeminal neuralgia. No visible cause. Doesnt respond to normal pain killers and hurts so much more than anything else I've been through inc labour, broken bones etc. Known as an suicide disease as many people have committed suicide when they couldnt cope with the pain, or accidentally overdosed on their pain killers trying to numb the pain.
My late mother in law suffered with this from about the age of 55. Not sure what started it. She thought it was her teeth at first and flare ups would send her insane. She hated the wind ,if she was out anywhere she would wrap a scarf around her face. She took tablets for it and finally did have a brain op in 1995 which helped a lot : the nerve in her face was frozen. A big op that I'm not sure is still done these days? It contributed to her being so miserable and very restricted as to what she could do. She used to say it was a terrible pain they made her feel as if she wanted to die. So sad really and many people have never heard of it.

Sacroilitis- completely debilitating at times- wonder where that ends on the scale.
Nerve compression related pain too. Especially if your foot goes numb when you stand and you fall into a glass door... Blush

Lego underfoot is by far the worst- worse than labour and I've had twins with no pain relief!

TheCrowening · 25/04/2021 14:42

I once had a tiny mouth ulcer right where my gum meets the inside of my lower lip. That was a painful little bugger.

the80sweregreat · 25/04/2021 14:43

I've had two abscesses ( tried to save the tooth by having root canal treatment, but it didn't work) the pain was unbearable. So relived when it was taken out. The gap isn't nice to have but better than all that pain.

Scratched cornea the devils agony

marriednotdead · 25/04/2021 14:44

Adult DS trod his full weight barefoot on a plug the other day, one of the prongs has bruised his instep and he hasn't stopped complaining. I'm evil apparently because I suggested wearing slippers like everyone else Grin

LysistrataVickers · 25/04/2021 14:45

Chopping tomatoes and lemons with hand eczema.

LysistrataVickers · 25/04/2021 14:46

Also tonsillitis. I'd rather give birth again than have tonsillitis again.

Jellifer · 25/04/2021 14:47

Those really annoying spots that I sometimes get in my ear or ear lobe lobe hurt like a really hurty thing!

FindingMeno · 25/04/2021 14:48

Some things hurt more than they have any right too like bending a nail back.
Others, like putting a staple fully in your thumb don't hurt as much as you'd expect.
The midwife was surprised when I looked at her like she'd gone soft when she offered me gas and air for barely noticeable contractions, yet I would have begged for morphine after some period cramps I've had.

Trapped wind can be hideously painful.
I found it more painful than the actual c section wound.

ihatemessyplay · 25/04/2021 14:50

Pelvic girdle pain. Fucking agony. Would wake up hollering and crying.

Getting a cut in the fleshy part between your thumb and first finger.

Getting chilli in your eye or on your fingers.

Agree with trigeminal neuralgia.

Cocolapew · 25/04/2021 14:51

Eating something salty when you have an ulcer.
I had a blister on the back of my heel on Saturday, my new trainers were rubbing.
It burst and I know have raw skin about the size of a 50p piece. Its flipping agony.

ihatemessyplay · 25/04/2021 14:51

Omg yes bending a nail back! My god that hurts.

CutieBear · 25/04/2021 14:52

Period cramps. I’m currently curled up and can’t move.

Papergains · 25/04/2021 14:57

I had a gum inflammation once that looked like my mouth had been entirely burned. To eat, I had to take Diflam before eating soggy biscuits and it was still excruciatingly painful. Lost weight. It was ridiculously sore.

Gertie75 · 25/04/2021 14:57

Stubbing your toe.
The little blade in the end of your finger for blood tests.
Tonsillitis.

Imnotbent · 25/04/2021 15:02

Oh @CutieBear I feel your pain my period pains used to have me on my knees I felt like I was in labour. I used to bleed big clots and my gynaecologist said my cervix was dilating to pass them. The Mirena coil stopped all of that thankfully.

Hope you feel better soon.

Pins-and-needles in the vulva.
@merryhouse I’ve had this for 16 hellish months and no doctor can tell me why, can you shed a light by any chance?
longtompot · 25/04/2021 15:03

@DrMadelineMaxwell

A researched pain scale of conditions.
My ed has CRPS which is at the very top of that pain scale 😢

Bashing your funny bone hurts far more and for far longer than it should.
