Spider on the bed, wwyd?

We were just getting into bed when a spider ran across, DH flicked the duvet and it disappeared but I didn't see where it ended up. He is not really bothered by spiders and was tired so went to sleep but I got back up. I just don't like the idea of it scuttling around the bed. I will probably go back up a bit later, maybe. Would it bother you or are you fine with our 8 legged friends.

No way

StealthPolarBear · 21/04/2021 23:25

I'd have preferred to get it out of the window, but no I'd go to bed and it wouldn't particularly cross my mind again

spotcheck · 21/04/2021 23:25

How big are we talking?

GlutenFreeGingerCake · 21/04/2021 23:27

About 5cm including legs, a fast one not one of those skinny long legged ones.

I would scream, run and shout at DH to save me 🙄

Not a chance I would sleep in the bed until the creepy thing had been located and removed. In fact I'm going to check my own bed when I go up now Grin

hilariousnamehere · 21/04/2021 23:30

Take the cats out in carriers and set fire to the house?!

MaddeningtheUnhelpful · 21/04/2021 23:32

Spiders don't bother me at all, so I'd probably check to see if it wasn't hurt tbh... my strapping 6ft tattooed husband though would flee to the sofa and baracade the door

daisyjgrey · 21/04/2021 23:34

Burn the house down.

But a new house somewhere there aren't any spiders, possibly somewhere in the Arctic circle.

daisyjgrey · 21/04/2021 23:35

Obviously I meant buy a new house. The stress of the hypothetical situation made my typing off kilter.

Overdueanamechange · 21/04/2021 23:37

I would sleep elsewhere. Setting the bed on fire whilst your DH is sleeping peacefully in it would be justified but frowned on by some.

BarryTheChopper · 21/04/2021 23:38

I don’t love them but as long as it was no longer on the bed, I probably wouldn’t give it much thought.

I once had one gallop across me mid shag and managed to carry on!

Wheesplat · 21/04/2021 23:39

Yep, burn the house down and run away. Or pick it up and move it. I have one that shares my bathroom. Even after I kindly chucked her out the window.

DramaAlpaca · 21/04/2021 23:40

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest, I have no fear of spiders. Well apart from the time a large one dropped off the ceiling and landed on my pillow next to my face. That wasn't nice.

Trixie78 · 21/04/2021 23:40

I'd sleep in another room 😅😅

PaddleBoardingMomma · 21/04/2021 23:42

@Trixie78

I'd sleep in another room 😅😅
Same!
alexdgr8 · 21/04/2021 23:43

spiders are good. they prey on nasty other things.
i guess i might try to capture it in a glass and put it out the window.
sometimes they are looking for water, so i may put a drop or two in the glass.

GlutenFreeGingerCake · 21/04/2021 23:46

Glad I'm not the only one who is not as unfazed as DH I'm not quite at the house burning stage but I like to put catch them in a glass and put them outside.

Bluey18 · 21/04/2021 23:47

It's probably more scared of you OP. I'd go to bed but then I don't care about spiders, they are harmless. DP is terrified of them though so he'd probably ask me to lift the duvet and pillows to check for it, he woke me one night when he was studying late to get one off his monitor and put it out the window HmmGrin.

MixedUpFiles · 21/04/2021 23:48

There is a 5cm spider in your house?

As far as I am concerned, no one is sleeping until it is found.

If you can’t find it, I would contemplate a hotel until the exterminator did their thing.
My caveat is that where I live, the spiders in that size range are almost all extremely dangerous. We have an exterminator out every 3 months for prevention.

To be honest, even if it was a little 1cm thing, I would go sleep on the couch. No way I could relax enough to sleep.

Leeds2 · 21/04/2021 23:49

I would just go to sleep as planned. No issues with spiders.

SakuraEdenSwan1 · 21/04/2021 23:50

Burn the house down legit

WorraLiberty · 21/04/2021 23:50

I'd feel a bit 'itchy' dropping off to sleep but that's about it.

The chances are anyway, that spider's been in your bedroom for ages.

SakuraEdenSwan1 · 21/04/2021 23:51

I will join you we can be neighbours!!
daisyjgrey · 21/04/2021 23:54

@SakuraEdenSwan1

Deal. I don't like moths either, just as a heads up.

LangClegsInSpace · 22/04/2021 00:06

I like spiders.

I'd catch it using a glass and a bit of card if I could, and release it outside. If it's already scuttled off I wouldn't give it a second thought. Spiders are not at all interested in you. If they were people they'd be misanthropic hermits. Just let it go on its way and it won't bother you again.
