What terms of endearment do you call your DC?

Not explicitly a taat, but the thread about names for your OH got me thinking about what people call their DC (young or old!)?

Mine are preschool age and it's mostly: darling, sweet pea, sweetness, my love, honeybun, honey button, munchkin-moo, or their nicknames (too outing to share).

My youngest DS (13) is baby boy when I'm in a good mood and he wants a cuddle or lazy arse if I'm being honest.

Oldest is "name"ski (like my user name) or Kevin if he is grumpy.

notagainmummy · 16/04/2021 09:31

Honey bunny (7 yo boy). Ellibear (12 year old).

needadvice54321 · 16/04/2021 09:50

I call DS1 (17) my little Prince - our relationship reminds me of Gavin and Pam in Gavin and Stacey GrinGrinGrin

DS2 (12) has a nickname that is a silly version of his real name

needadvice54321 · 16/04/2021 09:51

@KitchenWarrior

Sweet pea Sugarlump Chickpea (North West but can't bring myself to say Chick) Flower pot Petal Sausage

Ds has a name that can't be shortened, deliberately, but then we came up with this weird rubbish instead!

I grew up in the north west and now live in the south. I work with Pre school aged children and they think the nicknames I use are hilarious , especially flower pot! Grin

Disclaimer - I don't say either in public. I think my boys would die of embarrassment BlushGrinGrin

My three year old DS is wee man, wee fella, wee guy, wee pie, baby man, Mr Baby, Stinky, Stinkles, chooky, wee buddy, baba.

My Dad always called my sister winkle or small piece Grin

Whatisgoingonhere · 16/04/2021 10:00

DS1 is Squishy Bear, Squish, Mummy’s little monkey, pumpkin prince, poppet, Cuddlemuffin

DS2 is Poopy Snoopy, Poops, Snugglepuss, sweets, poppet

I often come out with random ones too 😂

littleredberries · 16/04/2021 10:03

My 14m old is bilingual so we use a lot of cute Denglish. But I doubt anyone would understand if I posted

Lovelydovey · 16/04/2021 10:04

They’re not that little anymore (9 and 11) but largely pickle or munchkin. They now call me gherkin or mimsy/mimmy.

My DF called me pud - because I was my daddy’s little pudding - all his life, even when I had my own children and was looking after him!

salcombebabe · 16/04/2021 10:17

I’ve got boy/girl twins.
DD is darling, sweetheart or a derivative of her actual name.
DS is Buster.
I still use these names for them despite them being nearly 25!!!!

Silkiescats · 16/04/2021 11:01

I also call DS (14 asd) HIM (hyperactive immature midget) which he loves as he's very proud of being tiny though SIM (sloth-like immature midget) would be more accurate.

Favourite child I tend to say the cat or its you but that will be our little secret.

EnglishRain · 16/04/2021 11:06

The DDs are darling, sweet pea, sweetie or duckie. The little one is sometimes shorter daughter

FloconDeNeige · 16/04/2021 11:28

I use munchkin and baby for them both.

DH calls them kikinoo and mon amour (he’s French).

HelplessProcrastinator · 16/04/2021 11:55

Princess Farty Pants
Grot bag
Munchkin
Pickle
Monkey
Lovely
Pumpkin
Sweet pea
Any kind of nonsense in an attempt to embarrass them in public

Isaidnope · 16/04/2021 11:59

None.

BiBabbles · 16/04/2021 12:11

Sugar pie is my automatic one for all of them.

My older two also get called their first initial (as do I by my spouse). My third's first two initials are MB and calling her M didn't work as it obviously sounds just like Em, so somehow that I can't remember, she became Mee-boo. My youngest's never had an initial name as it just doesn't work with his initials at all.

SarahAndQuack · 16/04/2021 12:15

Far too many! I like pikelet at the moment, because whenever I say it she makes me explain it's a tiny little crumpet.

PitchImperfect · 16/04/2021 12:31

I was never a cutesy terms of endearment type of person before I had kids but I probably use random things more than their actual names now!

Poppet, sweetie, sweetheart, snugglebug, shmoo-shmoo, banana, sausage, squiggle... Those are probably the most common, along with variations on their names, like if one was Ben, I'd call him Benny-Booboo, Benny-Bot, or Benny-wenny-woowoos when he was ignoring me & I was trying to get his attention!

I do none of these things in public though, except possibly poppet or sweetheart!

KitchenWarrior · 16/04/2021 13:54

@needadvice54321 I'm so glad to hear that flowerpot is actually a north west thing! I too am no longer in the NW but it just came out of my mouth when ds was a week old! Wasn't sure if I'd made it up.

Tilly Mint used to be a common girls pet name when I was little but I havent heard it used for years.

TotorosFurryBehind · 16/04/2021 13:54

Monkey (glad to see it is common as was wondering if appropriate)
Little lady
Beautiful lady
The Wriggler (based on her interurerine wriggling)

TotorosFurryBehind · 16/04/2021 13:54
