I have 120.00 of Tesco vouchers. I see I can get more for my money if I use them on days out etc..I have 2 dc age 13 and 11. What great things are you done with yours?

A railcard, and plates/mugs from Denby that I would never have justified buying otherwise. I get joy every time I use them and remember that they were 'free'.

nevertoooldforindie · 13/04/2021 14:04

Don’t bother with using them for Blackpool pleasure beach. We treated visiting relatives to a day out. Spent all day wiring and got on about 4 rides. Never seen such disappointed kids. The magazine subscriptions are good though.

GetTheStartyParted · 13/04/2021 14:04

I use mine for the delivery saver pass and railcards but do have quite a few saved up.

The Clubcard app is good, to look through what is available.

I only downloaded it because I always forget my clubcard but it's very useful.

Queuing. Not wiring !

Paranoidandroidmarvin1350 · 13/04/2021 15:30

Bought some new denby China. Had no idea I could use them for that

itsgettingwierd · 13/04/2021 16:22

@Scootergrrrl

We used the 'triple the value' thing to get magazine subscriptions relating to their particular hobbies for the children as a Christmas present. They LOVED it and it cost £20 each in vouchers rather than the £60 it would have been.
That's amazing advice. Ds had recently indicated he would like a subscription to a particular magazine.
Standrewsschool · 13/04/2021 16:38

Used them on the Eurotunnel for the last few years.

Magazines - always a great shout.

In the past, day trips to zoos, Eden project, meals etc.

Will certainly look at some of the suggestions listed here.

I’m a club card holder and all of this has completely passed me by Confused

Alwayswithalacrity · 13/04/2021 17:19

I use them for our RAC membership, magazine subscriptions and pay for my delivery saver.

WinoLino · 13/04/2021 17:23

Does anyone know if you can use discounts alongside the Clubcard? Like could I use the vouchers for Alton Towers and also the discounts you get from cereal packs etc?

Standrewsschool · 13/04/2021 17:48

Probably not different discount offers. However, I have topped with cash if my Tesco vouchers don’t cover the full price. You may have to check the conditions of the promotions.

WinoLino · 13/04/2021 18:29

Thank you, will check

Alton Towers costs a fortune even with my Clubcard points! Shock

Kitkat151 · 13/04/2021 18:32

I always use mine for eating out....they used to quadruple the amount you had but now they only triple it..,but still a definite ‘something for nothing’....I have £50 so £150 To eat out...low to use them until after 17 th May when you can eat indoors

FeltCarrot · 13/04/2021 18:33

We have used ours in Goldsmiths to buy watches and jewellery, got DD a lovely necklace and earrings that would have been around £500.
Have also used them in places like Pizza Express and Zizzi and hotels.

MrsTumbletap · 13/04/2021 18:35

We use them for hotels and nights away a lot. Legoland I think one year too.

Back in the day you could use them for Virgin holidays we saved up and got £1000 off our honeymoon!

Saladd0dger · 13/04/2021 18:39

Went to longleat festival of light and done the Santa train with the kids it was amazing!

AlexandraPeppernose · 13/04/2021 18:55

Last year was Longleat, Chessington and a railcard

MrsPinkCock · 13/04/2021 19:02

I convert them to virgin air miles. It’s enough for a free premium economy flight every year (you just pay tax). Not always easy to find reward flights though!

3CCC · 13/04/2021 19:13

Over the years we have used Tesco vouchers for

Driving lessons
Holiday to Turkey
Furnitured a room from MFI
Railcards
Eaten out at Ask, Prezzo, etc
Hotel stays with Best Western
Merlin Card membership for a year- Thorpe Park, Alton Towers, Madame Tussaud's among others
Magazine and newspaper subscriptions

Morgan12 · 13/04/2021 19:24

Could someone explain this further please?

I get vouchers through the post for like £5 off a £40 shop. How are you all getting so much?

I'm signed up to the Christmas club too and only get like £8 a year and i spend a fortune on tesco. What am I going wrong?

SeasonFinale · 13/04/2021 19:31

I am another one who has always used them converted to Avios. My parents live in the States and it always got us a trip over there once a year when DS was little. DH and I have been to St Petersburg and to Bordeaux using avios too. And we use Avios to upgrade other seats on bought flights. They have just stopped doing that though so I dont know what I will be doing now with mine.

Any suggestions?

I didn't realise this was an option because mine were going to Avios (BA) but have stopped so I will look into that now.

Have you got an actual Tesco club card? ( nothing to do with Christmas)
purplebagladylovesgin · 13/04/2021 19:34

I'm reminiscing.

Years and years ago, when Tesco first started clubcard the vouchers could be exchanged for 4x face value.

I applied for a Tesco credit card and put every expense I could through it including business expenses. I paid it off carefully each month. The rewards for doing this were generous back then. I think you had 4-5 years on the expiration date too.

At the time Tesco supported purchases with MFI and you could use clubcard vouchers for x4 face value. MFI did decent granite worktops (I really didn't expect them to be any good) and I got my entire kitchen worktops measured and fitted in deep 40mm granite, completely free! I estimated I saved £3,000 twenty years ago.

I don't think the rewards are as generous now.

AbsentmindedWoman · 13/04/2021 19:43

@purplebagladylovesgin that's amazing!

I love this thread Grin sadly, I have no clubcard story of my own.
