I think im over shopping. The thought of queues and lots of people is very unappealing.

*There is nothing wrong with people choosing to go shopping. I'm in Scotland so we still don't have that option, and I won't be one of the first when we do because it will be too busy. I also won't be posting on mumsnet calling people names for going to a shop.

Oh come on. Queuing for Nike trainers at 6am is utterly pathetic. No one needs a branded trainer that badly and if they do it’s only down to marketing.

I thought I'd share the op's attitude when today came around , but actually it feels quite nice to be able to shop again.

I went for a walk around our local shopping centre with ds today , bought him a new toy and enjoyed seeing the smiles of the people having their first hair cut in months.

I'm just too broke for shopping.

Topseyt · 13/04/2021 03:55

I'm just happy to see the economy starting to open up again and people being allowed to run their businesses.

I am only an occasional shopper, but will go for a good browse along the High Street soon, probably when I next go to visit DD at uni.

I'll look forward to it. Some decent t-shirts for summer from M & S are much needed, and a mooch around Waterstones would be nice too.

Pyewackect · 13/04/2021 04:51

Me neither. I’ve saved a small fortune over the last year by only buying what I really need. Same goes for restaurants and pubs. I won’t be beating a path to their door any time soon , even when this is all over.

@LDom

I too am not bothered, I've always hated shopping anyway. When I saw people on the news queuing in the cold, wearing masks, I couldn't understand why.
not much social distancing either. There is a very small garden centre i might visit this week. If I saw lots of people i wouldnt want to go in, ive had covid and first vaccine but im sure its not done with us yet!

Not bothered here either.

Our local Primark was queuing for miles. And our Primark is a load of 💩.

@actiongirl1978

I've just got back from the shops.

Pleasing improvements - no more one way systems in places like waterstones, could try on a the sunglasses in tkmaxx without having to put them in a quarantine afterwards. No queues in my cathedral city. Went in all the shops we wanted and not a single queue including primark.

It was joyful and other than masks felt totally normal.

And no social distancing to speak of.

I do hope I find most of this when I eventually go.

Masks I can deal with although I dislike them. One way systems were pointless and a pain in the arse.

Social distancing is something I do fairly naturally anyway as I like a fair bit of space around me anyway, but I'm not going to let it rile me up or stop me going into anywhere I particularly want to go to.

All of this bollocks needs to stop. Life needs to resume and people need to open their businesses to earn a living.
