Heavy snow in the South East

Has anyone else got heavy snow this morning? I feel so sorry for all the businesses opening for outdoor eating today. It seems to be settling too.

SW London -was astonished to put the bina out about an hour ago snd it was snowing heavily. Still snowing now but fewer flakes.
Am swimming later today in the (open air) swimming pool 😀

Yep, woke up at 5:30 to go to an outdoor bootcamp, took one look outside and went back to bed. I can do cold, and I can do early, but apparently not both.

RandomMess · 12/04/2021 07:54

It's heavy snow for south England not the rest of the UK though 😂

MeanderingGently · 12/04/2021 07:56

We're in the Midlands, we had snow last night, enough to settle on the cars and it has frozen in the night. The roads are just frosty but cars and all grass covered in the white stuff....but the sun is really bright and I think it will all melt away. Glorious morning!

butterpuffed · 12/04/2021 07:56

None here in Kent, I want some !

MissMarplesGoddaughter · 12/04/2021 07:58

It's snowing here in SE London, big fat flakes heading straight down.....

RosesAndHellebores · 12/04/2021 07:59

Yes and quite heavily here in Surrey. Temps forecast to be 6° in an hour or two thought. Last time I recall it snowing this late was 11th April 1989. Think it was Maundy Thursday - I was in Knights ridge.

TeenMinusTests · 12/04/2021 08:03

South Hants. None here.

buckleten · 12/04/2021 08:04

We do in Berkshire, and it's still snowing!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 12/04/2021 08:04

Yes, SW London, but the flakes are smaller and I think ‘wetter’ now.

The grass is mostly covered and there’s ‘icing’ on the trees. I doubt it’ll last long though.

knitonedropone · 12/04/2021 08:04

No snow here which is a pity as we might as well have some because I'm going to have cancel my plan for tennis with friends as the court is far too icy 🥶

CeibaTree · 12/04/2021 08:05

In Surrey and we have heavy snowfall this morning ❄️

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 12/04/2021 08:06

I do recall about this time of year, once driving through a positive blizzard to pick up dds’ school summer uniform! It was short lived though.

TheChosenTwo · 12/04/2021 08:07

Literally just as i read through this thread the very heavy snowfall turned into sleet. SE Surrey/Hants border.
Woke up at 5.45 to go for a run. Got to the front door, thought better of it, went and did an indoor workout instead Grin

Woodpecker22 · 12/04/2021 08:08

The cars are pretty covered but it is falling down more lightly now and melted on the hedges. It was a bit of a shock though waking up to so much snow in mid April.

Our local pub's beer garden was fully booked for lunch today so we couldn't get a table and are going on Thursday. Hopefully it will be a few degrees warmer by then.

I hope everyone enjoys their first day of relative freedom despite the weather. I am taking my autistic son for his first train ride in a year and he is so excited.

No snow, but -3 this morning here in South Yorkshire and a heavy frost.

DrunkenKoala · 12/04/2021 08:09

None in Kent although we did have a thick frost which has now melted. My outdoor thermometer is saying 3 degrees.

Thecazelets · 12/04/2021 08:11

Heavy snow when left the house at 7.30 but turning to rain now (SW London)

Professionalprocrastinators · 12/04/2021 08:13

This made me smile. I have an autistic son who loves trains too so I get it, I hope your boy has a fab day.

peak2021 · 12/04/2021 08:14

I recall snow on the first day of a school summer term before (more than two inches) and in parts of the UK it snowed on the day of the Queen's coronation.

I think people are being a bit of a snowflake about the weather. Have South Eastern trains suspended services yet?

cologne4711 · 12/04/2021 08:18

Surrey/Hants border here - enough to be pretty but not disruptive. I imagine it will have melted by lunchtime though.

MargaretThursday · 12/04/2021 08:21

Nicely settled here in Surrey. Wondering whether to use it as an excuse not to go to work. 😁
I'm part furloughed so can easily make my hours up.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 12/04/2021 08:21

not heavy this part of south east, it did snow an hour ago.
