I like films with a good story, and characters that are interesting rather than fitting neatly into the category of good guys or bad guys. Not into fantasy or sci-fi.

TIA

The trial of the Chicago 7. Based upon a true story. It is brilliant.

We watched Pieces of a Woman yesterday. Be warned, it’s a pretty tough watch and upsetting but Vanessa Kirby is excellent.

Rocks. Gritty, British indie film. Mainly female cast and production crew. Challenge you not to shed a tear.....

Roussette · 05/04/2021 20:16

The invisible Guest.

One of the best films I've seen for years.

LetMeIn321 · 05/04/2021 20:20

Greta, Inheritance, Stardust

Catch and Release. Timothy Olyphant is hot!

I agree that Kirby is fantastic. I thought the film overall was rubbish.

Blinded by the light

@NeverMetANiceOne

I watched The Dirt last night, the story of Motley Crue, I thought it was brilliant, but only if you are in to that sort of thing!
Good, and long-awaited, but the book is a lot better.
RaininSummer · 05/04/2021 20:38

Might be Prime but the Mauritanian is a goodc true legal drama with Jodie Foster.

diddlediddle · 05/04/2021 20:50

I Care A Lot with rosamund pike is great

Hels20 · 05/04/2021 20:52

Wild Rose
Trial by Fire - can’t believe I missed this. With Laura Dern. Excellent as based on real story.

I know it’s not a film, but I assume you have seen Queen’s Gambit.

Dig was enjoyable - a slow pace but lovely.

Agree but it was a tough watch, I thought. Worth it though.

I enjoyed 6 minutes to Midnight

Roussette · 05/04/2021 21:06

Harriet is absolutely brilliant. Watched it twice.

What a story. It's true. All about Harriet Tubman... born into slavery and made such a difference

MarshaBradyo · 05/04/2021 21:07

Do you have Apple TV

Watched an incredible film the other day

The Mauritanian

Tough watch, incredibly acted

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 05/04/2021 21:08

Have you watched Enola Holmes?

FlyingBurrito · 05/04/2021 21:08

@Shadowboy

I’ve recently subscribed to Netflix having had Prime for years and feel a bit disappointed- it feels like it’s mainly series rather than films or am I just looking in the wrong place?
Is it meant to be mainly films? I didn't know that, I mostly watch series.

I watched Run the other day based on a recommendation on one of the others threads the same as this and I was very disappointed, for me it was average at best with not much happening and a lot of plot holes.

Roussette · 05/04/2021 21:20

The Mauritanian is also on NOW tv and Sky films

Cowbells · 05/04/2021 21:21

We just watched The Chicago Seven (true story) - that was gripping.

I also loved Roma, Parasite, Dolomite, Three Billboards, Last King of Scotland.

IsolaPribby · 05/04/2021 21:28

If you like a romcom, Letters to Juliet is lovely.

Thanks for recommending, just watched this.

Helped that the father is my favourite Spanish actor - have you seen the series Unauthorised Living? Also really good
