DH’s snoring is driving me to distraction. Need something effective and comfortable! Any recommendations please.

I like Quies (spelling?) wax earplugs, on Amazon or eBay. They're the most comfortable I've tried.

indemMUND · 04/04/2021 22:24

Wax, definitely. If they're too thin you can twist two together.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 04/04/2021 22:29

I use Howard Leight pink and yellow ones. Have a huge bag of hundreds so happy to pop a few in the post for you if you want to try them. DM me.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 04/04/2021 22:31

these ones

NotmyfirstRodeomyfriend · 04/04/2021 22:34

Quies for sure, so comfortable! Also, annoying but try and go to bed before him!

JoyOrbison · 04/04/2021 22:34

Oooh watching with interest. Dh snores horrendously, sometimes like a truck, sometimes a soggy snore and sometimes like a saw being dragged through dry wood.

Among shit loads we have going on at home the interrupted sleep is about to tip me over the f***g edge so anything that works please share!!!!

Thecrisplover · 04/04/2021 22:35

I've got pink dream girl mackies ones. I've got little ears, these ones don't hurt.

Arcadia · 04/04/2021 22:36

Are the wax ones better than silicone? I've been using silicone.

LarryDuff · 04/04/2021 22:38

Been wearing ear plugs for 20+ years and ditto the pink and yellow ones, twist them and insert and they expand and hold their position, can't feel them and block out 90% of noise (I sleep through next doors house alarm)

MadMadMadamMim · 04/04/2021 22:38

Bioears are the best I've tried and I use them all the time. They are silicon and you can mold them to your ears. Boots sell them.

NotN0wBernard · 04/04/2021 22:41

I'm the lightest sleeper in the world and have tried SO many ear plugs over the last two decades. I don't get on with wax or fancy ones. My favourites are the foam ones from super drug and they don't cost too much. Worth a try!

roxisolerenshaw · 04/04/2021 22:45

Quies wax ear plugs. I wear them every night and they're magic

Asdf12345 · 04/04/2021 22:46

Everyone’s ears are slightly different shapes.

Howard Leigh Max are the best for me. I forget they are in and sleep fantastically with them. All silicone ones I have tried get too uncomfortable after a few hours, even a very expensive custom moulded set are far worse than the Howard Leigh’s for me.

I have also used ear plugs with ear defenders in one very noisy place, for me the peltor optime 3 are good enough comfort wise for 90 miuttes sleep or perhaps a little longer sometimes. Others were more comfortable but far less effective and tended to come off.

ThePricklySheep · 04/04/2021 22:47

I got a friend a selection pack from amazon which she liked.

480Widdio · 04/04/2021 22:58

I use Muffles Wax ones from Boots.Have used them for years, they are the only ones I have found that keep the noise out and stay in.

I was in the Army, working nights and trying to sleep in the day with helicopters overhead the whole time,I needed ear plugs that worked!

Cannot get on with foam ones at all.

Lululu22 · 04/04/2021 23:02

Thanks all. It’s been a close call but have ordered the pink and yellow ones to try first! @MarkRuffaloCrumble thanks for such a kind offer to post some for me to try. If these don’t work for me, then DS can use them drumming!!!

@JoyOrbison, I was almost tipped over the edge at 5am this morning hence an Amazon order tonight!

Honestly, my DP snores like a trooper and they're brilliant, can't hear a thing! In fact I have to let him know when I've put them in so that he knows he's safe to let out a fart Grin

I forgot to take them on holiday with me once and I ended up playing rainforest sounds directly into my ear to try and drown out his snoring. The noise woke him up and then I ended up raiding the mini bar in an effort to get drunk enough to fall asleep before he did! I now make sure I take several pairs wherever we go. Hope they work for you too.

Lululu22 · 04/04/2021 23:20

@MarkRuffaloCrumble, that did make me laugh. Am crossing everything cos am really at end of my tether.

Boots wax ear plugs, break one in half though, otherwise they are too big.

I think they call them swimmers ear plugs

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 04/04/2021 23:41

@Lululu22 You have to roll them between finger and thumb to squish them, then quickly poke them in and hold them while they expand to fit the hole.

Trying to thumb them in while they’re all soft doesn’t work!!

I got a variety pack from the snore store (about 20 different types). These were my favourite by far. I think you sometimes need to try a few different types depending on your ear canal size and shape.
Pumpkyumpkyumpkin · 05/04/2021 07:30

The Howard Leigh pink and yellow ones here too. Tried lots and these are defo the best ones IMO

AwkwardSquad · 05/04/2021 07:38

I found this place, it does sample packs so you can try different types of ear plugs to find your best fit - I have small ears and the standard ones from Boots etc were really uncomfortable, but I found what I needed from this place, via the women’s sample pack: www.snorestore.co.uk/acatalog/sleep-snore-earplugs-sample-packs.html

AwkwardSquad · 05/04/2021 07:39

These are the ones I use: www.snorestore.co.uk/acatalog/ohropax-mini-soft-earplugs.html

AwkwardSquad · 05/04/2021 07:40

Oh, dueindecember10 has recommended the sample packs already!
